"A/C died and John from John Henry was able to come that evening to give us a bid. He explained our options thoroughly and was very pleasant. Justin R and Tony were at our house by 8 am the next day. They were very professional and asked if they were too loud several times throughout the day. Frankly, I hardly knew they were there by the amount of noise they made. They picked up everything before they left. Justin did a great job explaining our new A/C, air cleaner and thermostat. The next day, we had our ducts cleaned. Even though that activity is inherently noisy, they drastically minimized the noise by keeping the air compressor out in the garage. The most “difficult” thing was when I had to transfer our cats from one room to another and that took just a couple minutes. Both technicians were very nice. Even our dog was “chill” throughout the whole experience. I’d wholeheartedly recommend John Henry. BW."

"The team was professional and punctual, and the deal was a good deal. However, the job done was so-so. They did a good job with the furnace cut-out and repair, but they missed one air intake. They also left black hose marks on a few of the walls. Nice enough guys, and I think if the house was smaller they would have done a better job. I do think the ducts that were cleaned, are clean, so that is positive."

"Efficient and informative. Anything and everything that could be done to help maximize our air quality as well as help keep heat and cooling distribution evenly flowing through our 37 year old home was given to us in thorough detail. We got a fair price and are already experiencing cleaner air quality and better performance from our vents and registers"

"I had an issue with my computer where it was opening lots of pop ups, ad bars, and windows with ads for games. I had tried several different programs to try to remove it with no luck. I finally decided to call North Alabama Technical Service to see if I he could help. I was expecting to set up a time for him to look at it but he connected to my computer immediately and within an hour had it fixed and running perfect again. Great service at a great price and I didn't even have to disconnect it and carry it somewhere! Would call again if I have another issue I can't resolve myself."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

While many states do not have specific licensing requirements for HVAC companies, your local city or county might. It's always a good idea to check local requirements online and use a tool like Angi’s contractor license lookup to confirm that the company you’re considering is licensed. Regardless of licensing, you should always ensure the company you hire is fully insured to avoid potential lawsuits if a technician is injured on your property. Additionally, it is recommended to check if the company holds third-party certifications, such as North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or R-410A certification, which qualifies them to work with HVAC refrigerants.

A power outage can damage your air conditioner, just like a power surge can damage any electrical device or appliance. In most cases, your circuit breaker or built-in surge protection on your AC unit protects your AC and just needs a reset. But in other cases, it might be that your AC compressor or capacitor was blown during the power surge. You’ll need to have an HVAC professional repair or replace any AC parts.

If your AC unit isn’t cooling and you haven’t figured out why, there are a few good reasons to turn it off ASAP. The source of the issue, whether that be leaking refrigerant or a broken compressor, will worsen and cause more damage to the overall unit the longer the machine is allowed to run. When in doubt, shut it down until you or an AC pro can ensure everything is working properly.

Yes, you can put an AC unit on the roof of your home or commercial building. For proper installation, you’ll need to ensure the roof surface is flat, it’s accessible for maintenance and cleaning, and an AC installation pro agreed that your home is a candidate for package units. Don’t forget to consider the climate in your area, as homes that experience frequent tropical storms or hurricanes may not benefit from this type of system.

A one-stage air conditioner only has one setting, while a two-stage air conditioner has a high and low setting. A two-stage air conditioner costs between $500 and $2,500 more than a traditional air conditioner, but it has a longer lifespan and helps to increase energy efficiency. To make this decision, you should consider your energy needs and available budget.
