Customers say: Terrific value

"I received an on site estimate within 24 hours of my listing. The project started on the date I was told it would. He was excellent at communicating what time Ricky would be there each day for a 3 day project. Ricky was polite, professional, and cleaned up the work space at the end of each day. The tile job was a 10/10! I would highly recommend."

Small jobs welcome

"I left the following review previously "These guys did a good job and were clear in communication and had great attitudes. There were a couple very minor quality issues, but nothing that would keep me from highly recommending their services!" Tornell took the lead in reaching out after the review, identified any outstanding issues and corrected them within days. Their willingness to be proactive stands out when I am so used to having to hold other's hands in initiating communication. Not the case here! Tornell and Ricky were consummate professionals throughout, provided confident yet humble advice and suggestions, and struck a great balance between good clean work, and an efficient time table. I was impressed with how quickly they came back to adjust one area. It was not the teeth-pulling, hurried schedule experience I have come to expect from contractors. I'm very glad I met them, let alone hired them for this kitchen backsplash. These guys have it figured out. Customer service, quality, time and money - all an A+!!!"

"He did some all-around remodeling for me. Electrical, drywall, framing. Pretty much all of it. He's reasonable, personable, and educated in his field. He's reliable, and explains everything thoroughly. In my honest opinion, he does a great job. I highly recommend him for any remodeling."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Your tiles will have a significant visual impact on your bathroom, so you’ll want to make a thoughtful decision. Once you land on the tile material that suits your needs and budget, you can consider the color schemes you want. Consider whether you want something modern, classic, or eye-catching.

The average cost for tile installation is about $2,000, with a typical price range between $500 and $6,500. On a per-square-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $5 and $45 for installation.

Several factors influence the total cost, including:

  • Installation Site: Costs vary for different areas. Common project costs are: kitchen floor ($870–$6,100), countertop or backsplash ($500–$3,000), bathroom floor ($300–$2,400), or shower wall ($225–$2,000).

  • Tile Type and Quality: The material significantly impacts price. For example, standard ceramic or travertine tile can cost about $1 per square foot, while luxury options like marble can be as much as $350 per square foot for the material alone.

  • Project Size and Complexity: The total square footage, the complexity of the pattern, and the shape of the tile (e.g., square, rectangle, hexagon, mosaic) will affect labor and material costs.

  • Site Preparation: The amount of prep work needed, such as removing old tile or installing a new subfloor or backer board, can add to the final price.

  • Tile Characteristics: The tile's durability rating and porosity can also influence the price.

  • Location: Labor rates vary by geographic location.

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

You have creative freedom when it comes to your tile trim. If, however, you are considering skipping tile trim, please think twice about that. It is good practice to install tile trim, whether on walls or flooring. Think, too, about the aesthetic you are going for and choose a trim type and color that will help enhance the space.

There are several low-maintenance shower floor tiles to consider for your bathroom. Stone tiles are easy to keep clean and only need an occasional resealing to keep them looking their best. Porcelain is another low-maintenance choice, as it doesn’t stain easily. Vinyl is also suitable for easy upkeep. On the other hand, one of the highest maintenance options for bathrooms is wood tile.
