"Corey works hard and does a thorough and good job. I have had him do several things for me over the years--not all related to electrical. Now that he is a Master Electrician that will be his focus. Because of his work ethic and quality of his work I cannot imagine using anyone else. I highly recommend him."

"This company is obviously nationwide and hires local contractors.  I trusted Agies List that all contractors are licensed, bonded and have background checks.  This person was a handyman and not qualified to wall mount, conceal wires, add electrical outlet.  He  spend five hours in my home, for a job that should have taken two hours and left the area in a disaster.  The TV was hung close to the ceiling, the wires were hanging down from the TV, and the receiver was sitting on top of a plaster box because the cord was too short.  He was obviously not qualified to install TV wall mounts.  I have photos.    As soon as he left, I called Best Buy Geek Squad.  They were able to come out the next day and mount the TV professionally.  I have used the geek squad in Virginia and they are highly qualified.  They charge more than this nationwide company but you get what you pay for.  I called Angies List the day after the disaster and said i did not want to rate this company but I wanted to talk to a manager. No one called me to apologize. I have cancelled my membership.  Do not use this company unless you can be assured that the local contractor is qualified and is licensed.  You should never let anyone into your home that has not had background checks.

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, a partial power outage without a tripped breaker often means you have a major wiring issue or that the breaker itself is going bad. When the power is out in one room but the breaker is not tripped, you need to call an electrician as soon as possible to identify the cause of the problem and repair it.

Unless you’re a licensed electrician, you should not DIY any electrical work in your home. Working with wires and electricity is potentially dangerous to both you and the structure you’re working on, and it could lead to house fires or electric shock if you’re not 100% sure what you’re doing. There’s a big difference between changing a light switch cover and rewiring an entire home. If you’re staring down a potentially difficult electrical job, give a pro a call.

Multiple wire sizes are used for residential electrical purposes. While the most common sizes used in homes are 14 and 12 gauge, some appliances, such as stoves, electric water heaters, central air units, etc., may use larger gauge wire to accommodate their larger amperage. Typically, larger appliances require 10-, 8-, or 6-gauge wires.

Yes, a dead outlet can be dangerous and may cause a fire. The lack of power can be due to a hazardous electrical issue that poses a fire risk. If you notice a burning smell, discoloration, or sparks from a non-working outlet, it is a serious issue. It is vital to have a professional electrician investigate and fix the problem as soon as possible.

It is possible to change a light fixture by only flipping the light switch, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Exercising extra caution when working with electricity is always important. Take the extra few minutes at your electrical box to cut the power at the circuit breaker. Once you’ve flipped the circuit breaker and the light switch, use a voltage tester to confirm the power has been turned off.
