Having trouble getting your gas fireplace working? Most problems can be solved with a a regular service, which includes cleaning out the firebox, clearing the pilot and burner of debris with forced air, removing corrosion from the pilot and thermopile, changing batteries and turning on the pilot light. Need a new installation. I am an authorized dealer for Peterson Realfyre gas logs, the best in the business.

"Excellent service all around. We've used them for years and have never been disappointed. They arrive on time and work quickly, efficiently and effectively. Top quality service at a fair price."

Redmond Heating and Air is fully licensed and duly registered by the state of North Carolina to install HVAC systems up to fifteen tons. It is a small company that can do service or install. We accept cash or check as form of payment.

"If you’re looking for a reliable, honest, and knowledgeable HVAC professional, we can’t recommend Redmond Heating and Air (Kenneth Redmond) enough! We’ve used Kenneth for the past few years and have always been so impressed with his expertise and integrity. He’s a one-man show with a straightforward, honest approach - no upselling or unnecessary repairs. He actually saved us thousands of dollars when another large HVAC company told us our downstairs unit couldn’t be fixed and needed a full replacement. Kenneth came out, diagnosed the issue, temporarily repaired it with one of his own used parts, then later found the replacement part under warranty and installed it. It’s been running perfectly ever since! We truly appreciate having someone we can trust with our home’s HVAC systems and will continue recommending him to everyone we know. "

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

No, you shouldn't cap a gas pipe with a compression fitting because they aren't designed for gas lines and can pose serious safety risks. Gas pipes require threaded caps that create a secure, leak-proof seal capable of handling gas pressure. Using a compression fitting could lead to dangerous gas leaks—a hazard you definitely want to avoid.

Oil furnaces don’t emit poisonous or highly flammable gases, making them less dangerous in your home than gas furnaces because they have a much lower chance of combusting. An oil furnace does pose the risk of causing a fire if it tips over, but it is generally considered safer compared to a gas furnace.

Some people don’t like the look of gas fireplaces since they don’t offer the classic charm or appeal of a wood-burning fire. Plus, gas fireplace installation is more expensive than other types of fireplace installations due to the added complexity of working with gas lines. There’s also a chance that gas could get into your home, which is a major health and safety risk.

Renovation projects that require moving a gas-powered appliance may also require moving the gas line that supplies it. The cost to move a gas line falls between $375 and $750 and will depend on how far the line needs to be moved, the cost of the permits, and how much excavation is needed, along with other factors.

You can and should vent the gas from your hot water heater to the outside of your home. Traditionally, these gases were vented back to other gas appliances, like stoves or furnaces, but many jurisdictions have outlawed this practice due to the risks it provides.

Most water heaters today use atmospheric venting that exhausts the gas out of the home through a pipe.
