"My home has a chimney that was unsafe to use (cracked masonry liner). I dreaded the time and cost of a tear down and replacement. I contacted "Shamrock Chimney" and scheduled an appointment with their lead technician "Tony". He suggested a less costly and safer alternative (steel liner and a resealing of the outer brickwork. The work was performed over a two-day period. I am fully satisfied with the results. One thing I really apricate is the communication during the project. The "front office" would let me know by either phone or email when the project would start, and then Tony and would give me updates. All and all the whole process went smoothly. Also, this was my first time with "Angi", I hope to use their services again in the future."

"The items shipped were all in working order. The items were easily installed via a sticky tape attached to all the sensors. Some, like the motion detector, were just placed on a flat surface;ie. fireplace mantle. All worked correctly. The remote door sensors are great;I use them to turn off / on the alarm system before entering or after leaving the house. The control unit besides handling the security system , displays local weather - which is handy."

"Mr. Bradsher was excellent. I was able to get an appointment to have my fireplace fixed within 48 hours of contacting him and it's the coldest part of the year! It snowed the day he was scheduled to come and he kept the appointment (although we had to push back the appt time because of road conditions). He was able to fix our fireplace quickly and we're so happy to be able to enjoy the warmth of the fire on these cold nights. We'll definitely use KD Bradsher Gas, Piping, and Appliances in the future and recommend him to our friends."

"To keep it brief they put in the piers under the foundation , great. they have an engineer bless what they did. Meantime my flashing which was supposed to be foxed was had problems which they partially addressed when I had them back but they ignore me and are always outta town when I call with problems (since they now have my money, it sems to me).  They told me I needed only very little on the iinside of the chimnety but they don't do that kind of work. Turns out , best case is $800 on the inside but the chimney guys will not guarantee the work until I address the excessive sway (2 inches) in my chimney. Bedrock looked at it and they say...there is n excessive sway. Though they acknowledge that we may need some straps to be installed between the mortar totabilize the chimney, they don't get back to me to address anything. They say each time they will call in a few days and I wait a month and then I call them and get the same thing.  So their big selling point that they will fix the problem even if it costs more than the estimate ....don't believe it because they just tell you that everything is great and you should be satisfied. Same with my low spot in my kitchen. When what they did , did not address the problem i complained about , it came out that they understood my concern as some other problem that also existed but that my problem was not structural. Unfortunataely their analysis of my problem  was not so indepth before they were commisioned to do the work.  Then they spent a day doing makeshift after thoughts to adress it and finally told me it's just the sub par way my floor was installed at construction. I should have been told that before they accepted that add on of thejob. Actually, I ight consider hiring them again if they weren't blowing me off about my disatisfaction with the job I spent $9200 for overall. As it stands I am hiring someone else to finish what they refuse to address. If they read this and handle up I will consider retracting this. Also , they worked on my hearth but the motar doesn't match and I had to tell the laborer they had do the masonry to push a brick in that he was gonna leave sticking waty out.  Same guy that doesn't know how t do the flashing that they reassured me at the begining that they would fix.

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Chimney sweeps perform three levels of inspections:

  1. Level One: This is a basic annual inspection, often a visual inspection during cleaning, which is the most affordable.

  2. Level Two: This stage is ideal when selling or buying a home as it involves an inspection of the attic and roof, which is moderately priced.

  3. Level Three: This is a very thorough inspection that should take place after major storms or earthquakes, which is the most costly type of inspection.

Yes, you can operate an electric fireplace (and other types of fireplaces) without the remote. If you’ve misplaced the remote or are waiting for the replacement to arrive, you can still control the fireplace at the access panel. You can find the access panel near the firebox, typically located at the bottom or top of this section.

Burning wood and wood products such as pellets create carbon monoxide that’s poisonous to humans and pets. Pellet stoves need to vent to the outside through an approved vent or chimney to expel the exhaust.

You should use an angled brush to first paint the mortar lines, then go in with a high-density roller to evenly paint the bricks one at a time. You can also use a flat paintbrush to paint individual bricks, but a roller is faster and easier to use thanks to its longer handle and wider surface area for coating the bricks. To finish, go in with the paint brush for edges or hard-to-reach areas.

You shouldn’t remove a fireplace yourself. Before beginning this job, you’d need to know whether or not you have a load-bearing fireplace. To do that, you’d need help from a structural engineer. Plus, fireplace removals require permits and often involve working with gas lines or electricity, which can be dangerous. For all of these reasons, it’s best to hire a pro for this project.
