"Friday evening - no water! Late Friday evening - spoke with Garrett at Banks Well Pump Services LLC. Saturday morning - Garrett diagnosed the problem as a failed water pump. Monday - new water pump installed in 700 foot deep well. Not having running water in the house is never a good thing. I feel very fortunate to have connected with Garrett and getting the problem resolved this quickly. He's knowledgeable, he's careful, he does quality work and he's a pleasure to work with."

"16 months ago, All About Plumbing replaced our septic pump. They responded quickly to our first distress call at seeing the alarm light and were here in a matter of hours to diagnose the problem. The new pump was ordered and installed within a few days. Last weekend, the alarm light was on again. We called first thing Monday morning. Someone was here within hours, diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, set up a date for repair within a week, and showed up exactly when they said they would to fix the problem. We're impressed with this company's responsiveness and professionalism. They know what they're doing, give an honest estimate with no further surprises, and get the job done in a timely manner. Very pleased with their service. Highly recommended."

"While I was out of town, I called them and they came to my home, gave me an estimate. I hired them and they performed the work of replacing our well pump and all the pipes. The cost was less then the estimate and I had water when I came home."

"Absolutely pleasant experience. Quick response for estimate, began work in very timely manner and completed ahead of schedules. Experienced in durability of products recommended and helped select remodel components that would enhance the bathrooms. Would definitely use for future projects large and small. Mr. Osteen even fixed a few problems from another worker’s job that wasn’t done up to code and saved me from future headaches."

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

There are many potential causes of low well water pressure. The most common include sediment buildup, leaking pipes, a failing well pump, or a cracked pressure tank.

Well water can taste different depending on the underground water source it taps into. Some well water tastes slightly sweet, while some may have a slight odor or no taste at all. If you find that you don’t like the taste of well water, a simple drinking water filter can remove most taste and smell.

A submersible pump should be at least 10 feet from the bottom of the well to minimize the risk of the pump drawing debris into the well water. Submersible pumps work best for wells that are 25 feet deep or less. If you have a deeper well, choose a jet pump instead of a submersible model.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends testing your well at least once a year to check for bacteria and contaminants. If you live in an area prone to flooding, runoff, or any other environmental concerns, it can be a good idea to check two to three times per year.

Yes, a bigger well pump can increase water pressure—up to a point. If you currently have a well pump of 8 GPM, you might notice a pressure boost when you go up to 10 GPM. However, overshooting significantly (going up to 15 GPM for an 8 GPM home) can strain your well system and result in things like burst pipes that can decrease your water pressure and make for costly repairs.
