"I give them stars for showing up and performing the requested tree removal. However, not very professional; with snow predicted for the following day, the entire crew did not show up until almost noon, leaving very few hours of daylight and good weather to complete a large job. They showed up the following day to complete cleanup, but it did indeed rain/snow for most of the day. Owner did not provide a contract, just quoted a price, which I accepted. At near dark, in the rain, owner showed up and asked what I thought of the cleanup job, but with the weather and near dark I was unable to evaluate adequately. I nonetheless gave him a check for the agreed-upon amount. Only after a couple of days had passed was I able to walk out and assess the cleanup, and I was not pleased. Items were removed to clear a path for the trees to fall, and not returned to their proper spots, and the trees did not even fall in the cleared area. I am glad the trees are gone, but I had spent many months trying to fix up the area that is now trampled and still littered with branches. I will be another two to three seasons, or more, trying to reclaim my yard."

Rototilling questions, answered by experts

Water pooling, uneven surfaces, or basement leaks are indicators.

Hardscaping often requires preparation of the ground in the area where the feature is being installed. This can include digging, compacting, and leveling the soil, ensuring adequate drainage, and removing any existing plants. The extent of preparation needed will depend on the type and size of the hardscaping feature being installed.

Periodic checks for erosion and proper drainage function ensure lasting results.

For minor unevenness, you don't necessarily need to remove grass before leveling. You can apply a topdressing mixture to fill in low areas and even out the surface. However, for more significant unevenness or deep depressions, it might be necessary to temporarily remove the grass to ensure proper leveling and soil compaction. After filling and leveling, you can replace the grass or consider reseeding the area.

Pea gravel is hands down a top pick for managing landscape drainage.  These small stones allow water to flow through easily by creating natural gaps that promote runoff. Beyond functionality, pea gravel also offers visual versatility. Homeowners will find a range of earthy tones like gray, brown, blue, and even red, making it easy to match with different outdoor styles and plantings.
