"Great service and lovely guy (owner Pauly). They were prompt, good equipment, worked with me to get the correct length of yard (this is a new home for me). I had mentioned I had a small project to remove a loose garden fence and they did that while here, mowed there, as well ...all for a fair amount. They have my long term business! EXCELLENT!"

Small jobs welcome

"Rodney and his two guys did an amazing job. The desk that they removed was solid oak and took 6 guys to move into my home when I moved to NC.They broke it down and removed in pieces. The rest of the things they removed was done efficiently, they cleaned up the debris from the desk and were very polite and courteous. I would recommend them and will definetly use them again if need be."

"Needed fencing installed to keep groundhogs from taking up residence under our deck. Brady came up with a creative and complete solution that made sure the varmints were out and would not return. Would use again."

"On Target Landscaping did a thorough job with our yard. They cleaned the beds out, trimmed hedges, pulled weeds, edged the beds and cleared to yard of tree debris. They worked quickly and cleaned everything up that they cut or pulled out. The yard looked clean and fantastic when they were done. I will definately use and recommend them in the future. Pricing was also very reasonable."

Customers say: Quick response

"My home was in need of gutter cleaning and exterior cleaning/power-wash. I found Adam and Perfect Lawn and Home through an online search that led me here to his HomeAdvisor profile. When I saw all of the reviews and positive words, I decided to give him a call. He was professional, easy to work with, on time for the estimate, gave a fair quote for the work, showed up on the day and time agreed upon, and did an outstanding job! Very thorough, professional, flexible and respectful. No shortcuts. The place looks amazing from the tip of the roof to the bottom of the foundation! Really a pleasure and rare to find a contractor around here that does what they say (and then some), shows up when they say they will, and performs quality work. Well worth it. Adam goes to the top of my list now for future needs."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.

No, you can’t place hazardous waste in a dumpster unless you specifically ordered a dumpster for hazardous waste removal. If the dumpster company finds hazardous waste that it didn’t approve for dumping, the company will return the waste to you, and you’ll likely face a fine for illegal dumping.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

You can sell a house with lead paint, but there are several requirements. If you are aware that lead paint exists anywhere in the home, you must disclose that to potential buyers. Required home inspections will often uncover lead paint, especially for older houses where lead paint may still be a problem. If you have taken steps to encapsulate lead, you should provide buyers with full documentation of the project so it won’t cause any problems later on.
