Customers say: True professional

"Mr. Diaz was quick to respond and give us a (Quite reasonable) quote. He was also able to start work within a week or so which was not a requirement but it was a bonus. We have a split level that is 2/3 brick so we needed the second story, all the eves, and trim scraped and painted. We had already purchased the paint so his price to us was strictly for labor. He did an amazing job on our old house. It had last been painted 17 years ago. He pressure washed, scraped, sanded, and caulked before painting. He arrived early and worked hard all day in the heat. He did such a great job that we hired him again to paint our wood shed to match. He cleaned up his mess and left the area clean and neat. We are very pleased and highly recommend him."

"Tony is a treasure! He is the epitome of a detailed professional painter. He took the time to get to know exactly what we wanted for each and every room. Tony took down the popcorn ceilings in every room, repainted the ceilings and walls, and painted all of our interior doors and woodwork. A huge job. Gorgeous work done in a perfect way! Excellent, kind professional who is a conscientious communicator and who offers reasonable pricing for his beautiful work. Expect to be wowed,! We would hire him again in a heartbeat. We wholeheartedly recommend Tony's Painting and More! -Clint and Diana Engel, High Point"

"My husband and I highly recommend Robert Foster Painting, LLC for any of your painting needs. Earlier this year Robert painted the entire interior of our house and is now painting the exterior. We are very pleased with his work. Robert is professional, personable, on time and reliable. His work is exemplary. His prices are very reasonable. As a bonus, he is a great conversationalist and got along really well with our 2 dogs and 1 cat. We left him alone in our house with our pets several times during the course of him working in our home without reservation or concern. Robert is the best!!"

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

Paint removal is a time-consuming job that can take anywhere from an hour for small surfaces, like a single stair banister, to multiple days for larger projects, like removing paint from wood siding. Expect to spend between five and 20 minutes per square foot. You can use chemical paint strippers to speed up the process, but be sure you use proper protective gear and take care to pick a product that’s suited for your material.

First off, take a breath. The good news is that interior paint, especially when used outside, won’t harm your health. The bad news is that you’re going to have to reapply the proper exterior paint at some point in the not-so-distant future. Otherwise the current coat will chip, crack, and fade, or worse, develop mold or an insect infestation without remediation.

Think hard before deciding to German schmear your home’s exterior brickwork. If you do not like the look, you are pretty much stuck with it, as it is impossible to remove this finish the way you can remove paint. You risk damaging the underlying brick if you have to chisel and acid-wash it away. It will also take a very long time, and remnants of the mortar wash will always remain.

To fix bubbling paint, scrape away any loose or blistered areas using a putty knife. Lightly sand the surface to smooth out rough edges and create a level finish. Clean the area thoroughly to remove dust, dirt, and any residue. Once the surface is clean and dry, apply a quality primer suited to the material you're painting. Finally, repaint the area, making sure to work in proper temperature and humidity conditions to prevent new bubbles from forming.
