"I called Alarm Protection Group AFTER my office was burglarized. Now I feel SAFE. William is great to work with. He's neat and tidy, prompt, presentable - not a butt-crack type of guy, and he doesn't leave a mess in his wake. He's also knowledgeable about the equipment and only uses high-quality products."

"Walter and Glen at Protect Your Home Group with ADT are the best people to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

"I communicated with Rob Calbo for services of a background check with CSI Secure Solutions and he was fantastic.
He spoke with me in a very professional manner and put me at ease right away.
The process was seamless and my request was delivered very efficiently. Within just a few hours of providing them with information, I was able to get feedback. Rob took the time to speak with me and answered all of my questions.
I will definitely be using them again in the future should the need arise, and I would definitely recommend them as being very efficient, professional and reliable.

Founded in 1936, Southern Alarm & Security is the oldest and largest locally-owned security alarm company in the Western North Carolina region. We are also the only locally-owned company that is UL-listed for commercial alarm systems installations and are the area’s exclusive security alarm dealer for the First Alert Professional line of security products and services. We serve the entire region of Western North Carolina from our three offices located at 305 South King Street in Hendersonville, 311 Highlands Road in Franklin and 135 Sweeten Creek Road in Asheville. Our line of security services includes systems for Burglary, Fire, Personal Emergency, Environmental Conditions, Home Theater and Automation, Video Surveillance, and Keyless Entry/Access Control, for residential, commercial and industrial applications.\n\nOur History\n\nIn 1936, Thomas D. Clark of Hendersonville had a “burglar alarm system” installed in his grocery warehouse by Southern Burglar Alarm Company of Belton, SC. Intrigued by this new "gadget", Mr. Clark decided to explore the possibility of going into the business himself since there were no alarm companies in Western North Carolina at the time. After some friendly negotiations, Mr. Clark bought a franchise from the Belton company for $1.00, and Southern Burglar Alarm Company of Hendersonville, NC was born.\n\nFor the next forty-one years, Mr. Clark ran the business from his home, with six employees at the most at any one time, including his wife, Emma, who did all the bookkeeping. They installed systems as far away as Raleigh, NC, Columbia, SC, Athens, GA and Johnson City, TN because there were few, if any, alarm companies at the time to serve those areas. In 1962, the business became incorporated in North Carolina.\n\nAt the tender age of 84, Mr. Clark began thinking about retirement. He had been approached a year or so earlier by local businessman Dan Waddell who had an interest in buying the company if it were ever for sale; so Mr. Clark decided to take him up on it. Following a short period of negotiation, a deal was struck, and Mr. Waddell, along with his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Steve Johnson, purchased the company on January 1, 1977. Steve became the operating manager, and along with the five employees who came along with the deal, a new era of Southern Burglar Alarm Company was launched.\n\nWe have made great strides since 1977, with several significant milestones having taken place:\n\nIn 1982, we became the first (and we are still the only) locally-owned alarm company in Western North Carolina to become certified by Underwriter’s Laboratories, the only nationally recognized testing agency for security systems installations.\n\nIn 1990, we were chosen to be the exclusive security dealer in WNC for First Alert Professional Security Systems, one of the largest and most recognizable names in the security industry today.\n\nSince 1985, we have acquired five smaller alarm companies, including WNC Security in Brevard and Appalachian Security in Franklin, enhancing our ability to more effectively serve the resort/retirement communities of the beautiful Western North Carolina Mountains.\n\nAlthough still incorporated as Southern Burglar Alarm Company, Inc., we have changed our D/B/A name to Southern Alarm & Security to reflect a more general and expanded array of services.\n\nWe have three offices located in Asheville, Franklin, and our corporate office in Hendersonville.\n\n

"Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs.

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

While lock crunching as a whole is not terribly common, it is one of the most frequently used means of forced entry into a home. Recent data suggests that forced entry through lock crunching or snapping occurs in more than 25% of burglaries.

Rekeying is typically cheaper than replacing locks. Professional rekeying costs between $40 and $160, sometimes with an additional fee of $15 to $40 per lock. A locksmith's hourly rate averages around $75. If you do it yourself, a rekeying kit can cost as little as $10. In contrast, replacing a lock costs between $130 and $500, with an average of around $315, depending on the hardware and lock type. Rekeying is a simpler process that changes the key for your existing lock without replacing the hardware. It is a good option if you have a quality lock that works well, you've recently moved, you've lost a key, or you need a quick security upgrade. The best choice depends on the condition of your current locks.

Yes, but adding a deadbolt to some door materials, like steel, may make installation a little bit trickier. For these materials, you will want to hire a locksmith to do the work for you, but be aware that they may charge an additional fee of $25 to $50 or more.

Yes. Most deadbolts purchased from a home improvement store include a step-by-step installation template that is easy to follow, even for novice DIYers. One of the most important steps for successful deadbolt installation is having the proper tools to start with and carefully measuring prior to any attempts at installation.

Yes, most pros encourage you to change your locks when you move into a new home. While the previous owner may hand you their keys, you have no way of knowing whether other copies exist elsewhere. Changing your locks as soon as you move in is a great way to ensure that you can enjoy new, fully functioning locks that will work with your unique key or code.
