""I recently had the pleasure of hiring Josh from Vinesett Electric Services to install an EV charger in my home, and I can't recommend him highly enough! From start to finish, my experience was fantastic. First off, his quote was incredibly reasonable – less than half of what other companies were asking. But beyond the great price, Josh's service was truly exceptional. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. As a first-time EV owner, I needed a lot of guidance beyond just the installation, and Josh went above and beyond to answer all my questions and explain everything clearly. He even helped me with some unrelated electrical issues (like fixing my Christmas lights!), which was incredibly kind. Josh took care of everything, from obtaining the permit to providing all the necessary documentation for my Duke Energy rebates. Honestly, I wouldn't have been able to navigate this process without him. He's a true professional and his work is impeccable. I will definitely be using Vinesett Electric for any future electrical needs and will enthusiastically recommend Josh to anyone who asks. Thanks again for the amazing service!""

"Great electrician! He has done a number of jobs at our house, including a panel replacement and EV wall charger installation. LJ has done an excellent job. He is professional, punctual, and the price is very good too. His fees have certainly been lower than what other electricians have been asking for. I highly recommend this electrician!"

"We had a wonderful experience with Josh. He listened to our needs and made sure everything was completed correctly and in a timely manner. We had an EV charging unit installed in our carport and Josh and his team made sure that the cables were hidden and looked aesthetically pleasing. I was also happy with how clean they left our kitchen after removing the dated light fixtures and installing new recessed lighting and chandelier. I highly recommend Mister Sparky and will use them again for my next project."

"Drew, the owner of Walker Electric was the technician that actually showed up to do the work. I had him install a ceiling exhaust fan in my bathroom. He did excellent work replacing the old one with new and didn’t do any unnecessary drywall damage. I also had Drew install under cabinet strip lighting in my kitchen that came out looking wonderful. His pricing was more than reasonable and his quality of work was top notch. I would recommend Walker Electric for any of your electrical needs and I will absolutely be using them again in the future!"

"A team removed a leaking tank hot water heater and replaced it with a tankless hot water heater. My house is 45 years old and all projects end up being a bit more difficult then on a newer house. The team assessed the existing infrastructures for two HVAC units, a gas dryer, and washer pipes in the utility room. They came up with a plan that Worked around all these vents and wires. They ordered the unit and venting and began working. It was a two day installation because of the Covid delay on shipping the item. After removing the old tank, they installed the new wiring and turned my water on for use in the house overnight. The rest of the project went very smoothly. Ryan stayed with the job the entire time. The owner and another technician came by periodically to see if anything was needed. I couldn t be happier with the job. They cleared all job materials at the end of each day. They are very courteous and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them for anyone replacing hot water heaters, cleaning laundry drains , and repairing leaking toilets because after they finished the hot water heater, I hired them to come back and do two additional jobs at my house."

Ev Charger Installer FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.

Local electricians with experience in your area understand the local building codes, which is very important when doing new electrical work. They also have experience with the kind of electrical problems homes in your location may have, and even the components that were used in the original construction, which leads them to make faster and better decisions.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.
