"Oswaldo and Henry were absolutely wonderful! They did what they promised to do and were on time. I had a new ramp and stairs built on my shed, a repair to my shed and a beautiful new door built for my crawl space on my house. Kind, considerate, professional guys. I highly recommend them. "The building that was painted is a two story commercial building. A New Look Painting painted the interior of the building and did a very professional job. Employees were very cordial, respectful and a pleasure to work with. The owner assured me he would not leave the job site until I was satisfied with the work. He is honorable and a man of his word. Very satisfied!"

"Paul is very amiable and a hard worker. I had a leak coming from my chimney and upon inspection he discovered that the mortar on top of the chimney was badly deteriorated. He was able to repair the damaged masonry before the predicted rain. That evening I noticed that there hadnâ t been any drips coming from the chimney while it was raining. So far so good! My experience with Paul was very positive and I would certainly hire him again for other repair projects."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

Yes, deck pier blocks can be used as an alternative to traditional deck footings, especially for smaller or low-to-the-ground decks. Unlike poured concrete and buried post footings, deck blocks do not require digging or pouring. However, their use is dependent on local building codes. Some areas, particularly those prone to high winds, earthquakes, or hurricanes, may not permit the use of deck pier blocks. It is essential to consult your local building codes before choosing them for your deck project.

A covered deck can be a good investment that increases your home value—especially if you live in a hot region with a lot of sun. A covering over the deck means you can get more use out of it, even on the hottest summer days. With a permanent deck covering, you can even add ceiling fans to help cool down your deck for added comfort.

If you want to make a deck cleaner from products already in your home, there are various options. The most common is to use a gentle blend of 1 gallon of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia-free dish soap. You can also mix water with distilled vinegar. Sprinkling on some baking soda can help to remove mold and mildew. You can add oxygen bleach (but never damaging chlorine bleach) to the water and ammonia-free dish soap solution for something a bit stronger.
