"False promises, lousy communication, and terrible work. Work was done without grit to keep from slipping when wet. Surface began cracking within 6 months of being installed. It took another 6 months for them to finally come and make the repairs. And the repair work is definitely not satisfactory. Now I can't get the owner to return my calls. Stay away from this contractor. Definitely not worth the money!"

While it may not always be ideal, you can fix a squeaky floorboard without removing the carpet. Pros use specialized carpet screws and drive them through the carpet into the subfloor, securing floorboards. They may also use nails instead of screws if they suspect the pile will get caught in the screw. While some types of carpet will hide the screws and nails, a low-pile carpet may not.

Luxury vinyl flooring is the best for pet owners, as it holds up well against scratches and accidents. Non-slip stone or porcelain tile are great options as well. Each of these also provide a less slippery surface for pups that like to run around.

When gathering quotes for new flooring in your area, ask each company about removal options and what they do with the material.

You can get away with stretching the carpet with some remaining items of furniture, so long as you have ready access to the parts of the carpet that require maintenance and you are not stretching through the furniture, as this leads to tears and fraying. Try to remove at least 50% of the furniture if you can’t remove it all.
