"Knowledgeable on the phone as to different methods used in industry and provide exceptional value message as to why they were best. Easy to schedule and were on time and courteous while here. Jacob, the technical representative, went out of his way to call prior to showing up and ask if OK to work in the house even though he had a cold. I though this was very thoughtful gesture. Since my wife works a local school I told him we were immune to the black plague and come on in. Once here he got to work and keep me informed of his findings. With an 18 year old house and first time vents were cleaned, you can imagine the picture. Bottom line courteous, on-time, diligent , and professional worker. I would hire them again."

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Cash is typically preferred for a tip, especially for smaller companies and housecleaners, but many now accept check, credit, or payments through Venmo and Apply Pay. If you’re unsure, check with your cleaning company prior to their first visit in case you need to make a quick trip to the bank.

You should consider doing a few things on your own that fall under the category of “good house cleaner etiquette” to prepare for your house cleaner. These include tidying counters, floors, and other surfaces, taking care of the dishes, moving laundry to the laundry room or a dedicated laundry basket, and putting away personal and private items. Think of your house cleaner as someone who brings your home from relatively tidy to organized and clean, and you should have no issues.

Yes, you should clean your toilet tank at least once every six months or once every three months if you live in an area with hard water. Toilet tanks often go ignored, which can lead to issues with mineral deposits from the water causing issues with the moving parts. A routine cleaning twice a year with vinegar will help keep the tank clean and prevent excessive mineral deposits from causing issues.

If you don’t have the time or ability to move your fridge, grab a yardstick and slide it underneath to unearth any large items and dust bunnies. Then, attach a microfiber cloth or a tube sock to the yardstick, spray it with a multipurpose cleaner, and sweep it around several times to pick up any lingering messes.

If you’re hiring a house cleaner, you should have them clean the house bi-weekly. This is the most common frequency for people who hire house cleaners, but what’s best for you will depend on how big your house is, how many people live in it, and if you have any pets. If you can maintain tidiness and deal with any immediate spills or splashes on your own, then a professional clean bi-weekly or even monthly should do the trick.
