Customers say: True professional

"Did a beautiful job and it laid out perfect- was framed out spot on and trim work was perfect. The cutting of brick and re bricking was so good you couldn't tell where new brick was laid. Installed shutters and a header piece to dress it out. Clean up was great and guys and girl were professional and friendly. Easy to work with. Would recommend to any one for any remodel job. In fact next week they will replace some trim piece damaged in a storm"

"We moved here to Asheboro in November. We purchased our first home which was a nightmare in this crazy market. We decided we would not settle so we would look till we found our perfect home. Well we found it here in Asheboro. Saturday night for us was devastating. We had a tiki torch that ended up sparking and landing in the new pine needles. Next thing we heard a pop and our window was broke and sunroom on fire. We where able to get it under control but the damage for us was heartbreaking. First thing Sunday we looked up companies that can fix the damage. We are so blessed to find TLK Construction they came out on that Sunday went through all that needed to be done and sent us a quote that evening. They came out and not only started the work but also did some things that my husband and I couldn't do. We are truly grateful for everything they have done through this whole process. Explaining what was best. They take pride in their work and they do an amazing job. Needless to say we have found our new handyman and much more. I would recommend TLK to anyone that needs anything done. Not only are they reliable they are extremely fair in the pricing. Thanks so much TLK . We give you 5 stars wish we could give you more. Ed and Laurie Winter."

"They drove out immediately after receiving my request for a quote (which was reasonable), despite the long distance and late time of day. They then returned bright and early the very next morning to do a job that "wasn't enough" for 2 other companies to bother with (painting caps over windows/garage door). Exceptionally professional and did a great job (especially since they had to fight off an unexpected wasp nest as well). I would definitely recommend them."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

Depending on your needs, you may find a storebought pole barn is a much less expensive option than a custom-built one. You can find pole barn kits from big box retailers starting at $11,000, but you will be limited when it comes to size and add-on features. As long as you have the necessary skills, you can save on labor costs by doing it yourself; but there are a lot of different skill sets you would need, and mistakes during the building process can lead to excessive repair bills later.

If you can’t repair and repurpose your shed, it might be possible to sell it, donate it, or salvage parts rather than them just ending up in a landfill. Professional junk removal services will advise you on what can and will be recycled. You may also want to keep some parts to upcycle them for other projects around your home. Turning planks from your memory-filled wooden shed into a coffee table or bed headboard is good for the environment and the soul.

The lifespan of a barn is typically 40 to 60 years, but with skillful construction and proper maintenance, it can last up to 100 years. The actual lifespan depends on several factors, including the barn type, materials, usage, and climate. For example, the posts of a pole barn should last 50 years or longer, but if the structure is used for livestock in a rainy climate, it may rot within the first decade. Custom designs with high-end materials tend to last the longest. To get the best estimate for your barn's lifespan, you should consider its material type and intended use.

Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.
