"LV Building Solutions did a fantastic job building a screened in porch on my deck. I couldn’t be happier! Benito provided options and was creative in making this project the best end result for me. He was easy to communicate with and was professional, timely and his price was fair. I would highly recommend him and would absolutely use him again!"

"Needed fencing installed to keep groundhogs from taking up residence under our deck. Brady came up with a creative and complete solution that made sure the varmints were out and would not return. Would use again."

"Great customer focus, communication, and work. I chose J&W because they were very responsive and their pricing was on par with expectations for the work. Their customer focus for my requirements was very good and i was very satisfied with their quality of work. J&W replaced my wooden colonial post with the updated PVC ones and repaired a piece of subfloor that had become weakened by an improper flashing. The time for the repair was less than 3 hrs total for both projects. I will be hiring J&W to do some additional work in the coming week to get the house sale ready. Great work"

"Larry Wallace from Carolina Tree Service has my highest recommendation. He and his son removed seven trees from around my house and garage. Nothing was damaged, and he cleaned up the area perfectly afterward. He tool the initiative to call me multiple times to arrange the service, and arrived promptly as a true professional should. He was extremely polite, especially to my young children (my little girl was not happy he had to cut down her swing tree). All in all, I would certainly encourage anyone looking for tree removal service to call up Larry. -Fred Bowman"

"Junior Green and his Clean Hands Painting and Construction crew did an excellent job saving our screened in porch. We had a contractor who had spent 11 months (yes 11 months) installing a screened in porch and he was simply not able to finish the job. We became fed up and found Junior and he was promptly out to review the work and recommend how to fix it. He was able to correct all of the issues with standard construction practices that our last contractor ignored. He made sure that the screened porch was redesigned to protect against water and last for the long term without issues every few years from water damage. In addition to his knowledge of good construction practice he also made our porch look beautiful. Hats off to Junior and his crew for amazing construction work as well as stepping in and redesigning our porch for beauty and longevity. --Doug Young"

"Darn near perfect. Marlon was very responsive to our needs and question. We went through three design iterations to develop a design that met our desires and budget. Marlon was helpful and accommodating each step of the way. Once we agreed on the final design, we scheduled, he and his crew showed up as promised and got right to work. It was nice to watch a professional at his craft delivering what was promised on time and on budget. We are very pleased with the deck itself. Well done."

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Using concrete footers is the best way to secure a gazebo on a deck without drilling. The weight of the footers is more likely to hold your gazebo in place than other methods. You can also pour concrete into flower pots to create an aesthetically pleasing concrete footer or use concrete columns to make a statement.

On average, building or installing a gazebo costs around $5,700, with a typical range between $3,000 and $10,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the gazebo's size, shape, material, and design complexity. Material choice is a significant cost driver; for example, brick is often more affordable, while metal can be one of the more expensive options. Square-shaped gazebos can also be more expensive to build. Custom features, such as built-in seating or lighting, will increase the total price. You may be able to save money by purchasing a prefabricated gazebo kit or performing some of the labor yourself.

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

Common materials include wood, vinyl, and metal. Wood offers a classic look, while vinyl and metal are low-maintenance options.

Yes, many gazebos are permanent structures built onto the land. However, if you have a portable gazebo that isn’t secured to the ground, you’ll want to check the manufacturer’s instructions to understand when to put it away. Generally speaking, when it’s particularly windy or wet outside, you should take down your temporary gazebo.
