American Craftsmen of NCFirst let me say that this review is long overdue. The work performed and described below occurred a year ago. I waited because I thought it best to give the windows/installation work time to "weather" before commenting. Overall the entire process went well. After researching several local companies I turned to the Raleigh/Durham area and found this company online. My request for a quote was done promptly by Steve Sykes. He was very professional, provided a good background of the company, and decent information of the product offered. Even though we ran into a miscommunication about the quote after he left (Between Mr. Sikes and myself. I thought a requested addition was included in the price but later found out it was not. I was more at fault for this than Steve.), the owner promptly addressed my concern and provided a more than acceptable resolution. Removal of the old windows and installation of the new windows went well but the trim job was sub par. My guess would be that the job took longer than planned, or they were in a hurry, and cut corners to finish. One thing that sticks out even after a year is that the main installer had brought (I believe) his daughter along and had apparently planned on letting her have the run of the house. I never schedule a job and not plan on being home so I guess that idea was ruined from the start. She ended up spending a majority of the time in the work truck. While I am sure no harm was intended, I am also sure Mr. Turner had no idea this occurred and would not have approved if he did. I would like to point out that the installer was a subcontractor and not a direct employee of the company. Back to the trim: The metal trim edge was left sticking out around the window parallel with the ground posing a cutting/slicing hazard. Rodney addressed this issue promptly and had the installer came back within a week to fix the issue. The final fix is acceptable as it will at least prevent water from pooling around the outside framework but it will have to be redone before long to prevent excess bowing which will break the caulk bead around the edge. So in conclusion I would give Rodney and Steve an ?A+? for professionalism and hard work with an "A" overall for the windows. They were all double paned with UV coating and white in color. The only complaint at this time is the window sashes seem loose in the frames on the double hungs. This has not caused a leak or a weak seal but does allow the window to "twist" side to side a bit in the frame. Lastly I would give a "C" to the installer and final trim job. Hopefully they have found a more professional installer by now or at least have provided detailed guidance on company expectations.- Robert H.

Kelly Window & Door IncA year ago, I searched for quality replacement windows for our 1900 sq foot 1996 built home that has 23 windows. After being unsatisfied with the local companies that pushed the cheaper windows, I found Kelly Window and Door on Angie's list. When I called, I spoke with Mike Kelly who initially told me they didn't have Fayetteville in their service area. I expressed my disappointment because the Angie's List reviews had been glowing about their product and their service. Upon further discussion, Mike agreed to give us an estimate based on the extent of our replacement needs (23 windows). Mike arrived as scheduled and further educated us about the windows, the benefit of the e-coating and other ways to decrease the heat transfer/loss. We also decided to replace our back door that had been replaced three other times by the big box stores yet still hung so poorly that you could see light around the side of the door. After measuring the windows and determining cost, we decided to replace half the windows and the door last year (approx $8000). This year, we replaced the remaining windows. Mike came out again and measured for the new windows. We also spoke with him about repairs needed to the window cladding due to the April hail damage. The windows were manufactured to our needs and approximately 6 weeks later a date for installation was determined. The first year, a window team and a door team were sent for the install and they were done in one day. This year a window team was sent and the windows were installed in two days. This second install included mostly second floor windows and they also had to re-clad six windows damaged by hail. We have noticed savings in our heating/AC costs as well as decreased external noise. I cannot express how pleased I am with not only the quality of the product but with the friendliness and efficiency of the employees. From first contact with Mike to followup calls by Bruce, I can not find one area where Kelly Window and Door did not exceed our expectations. The installers were friendly, professional, competent and actually took care of my home. As they removed old windows, they vacuumed up any debris. The care and respect they showed to us and our home should be emulated by others in the service industry.- Sharon T.

Just Exteriors PlusThey were very professional from the beginning. They were also understanding when I couldn't make up my mind about the color but they walked me through it and with their help, I chose the "wicker" color and love it. The job supervisor and workers were prompt in starting. Even the siding manufacturer rep came the first day of the project. They worked very efficiently and at the end of each day, they cleaned up the area so nothing was laying around. My own contractor, who was helping me with other projects, was very impressed with the job they did and their work ethic. At the end of the job, we walked around and inspected everything. There were a couple of small items I questioned and they immediately remedied the situation. I would definitely recommend them if you are considering re-siding your home.- Bonnie H.

Mike Fusco BuilderThe project started with the addition being constructed and then the new kitchen was built into the space, this included a custom 13 ft live edge maple bar – which was done my Mike. After completion of the new kitchen, the old kitchen was demolished and the new construction started. Mike was extremely helpful during the entire project – he had lots of great ideas and worked with us on getting the little details that we wanted. He helped us find the maple slab, that would later become one of the most beautiful live edge bars that I have seen, and he pointed us in the right direction for other items and contractors to get the finishing touches we were looking for (Flooring & Cabinets). Mike was the General Contractor and had a mostly great set of subs that worked for him, he also coordinated and worked with the other contractors that we hired – Stove Installation, Cabinets, and Flooring. This was an overall $250K project and yes, we will hire Mike again – we are already talking to him about finishing out our basement and another Addition (New Master Bath with steam room). It was pleasure working with Mike and I look forward to starting the new projects soon. As I said, Mike and his crews are not the fastest working folks - this project took almost a year to complete - some of this was due to weather and some was due to coordination of Mike's Sub-Contractors.- Ronny W.

Amazing!! From start to finish. It was a wonderful experience. Jesse, the sales rep helped on the front end, touched base during the install and then followed up after the job was done. The guys showed up and covered all the shrubs, pulled everything away from the house and got to work. They were actually done in one day! They did a fantastic job and didn’t even leave a trace that they had been here. The only thing that remained were smiles on our faces and a brand new roof! Don't mess with this lightweight. For over a week I worked with Mr. Spaulding to have a screen door picked up from Lowes and installed at my condo. Since I was out of town, I needed to coordinate it with my rental manager to be at the property the day of installation. The day he was to install it, he's says his guy SHOULD BE finished with whatever he was doing in time to do my project; the one that had been set up for over a week! That's not how it works when trying to coordinate the project with two other moving parts: my rental manager and Lowes. This guy is NOT DEPENDABLE. DO...NOT...WASTE YOUR TIME ON HIM!!!
