This biggest disappointment was the AC installation which we have had to have work completed on twice. With a unit that is new you wouldn't expect a freon leak so quickly. They also incorrectly installed the AC pumping where the AC was draining from the secondary instead of the primary drain which caused water build up in the over flow pan and rust to accumulate.
We hired a local AC repairman to correct the plumbing, but will have to spend more money to determine where the freeon is leaking which could prove costly.
Overall a shoddy job and will not contact them again for any services.
Chapman-Wilson Pools and Spa were contracted to clean our pool, still after almost one month and 15 days, the pools still cloudy/chemical off balance. After numerous times of trying to get rid of the algae and many failed attempts by Chapman-Wilson Pools and Spa, I had to demand from them to start brushing the bottom of the pool after Chapman-Wilson poor algaecide in the water. I explained to them that algae creates a mucus membrane on top that will protect them from the algaecide if is not brush. You would expect that a pool company will know this, but this one did not. After the Algae was cleared, I started testing the water every time Chapman-Wilson Pools and Spa came to my house and kept a log of their actions; you would expect from a professional pool cleaning and service company that the first thing they would do is to balance the chemicals in the water, i.e (PH, Free/Total/Combine Chlorine( Alkaline, Calcium and PH). But this company did not, they kept putting chemicals in the water without even taking samples in order to see if the chemicals were working or not. Neither is to say, that after a month and a half and over 20 visits to the pool, the water still cloudy. The last time they came to the house, the added some chemicals that had no effect on the pool. As a pool professional, they should know, that the first thing you need to balance in the water is alkaline, because it also raises the PH level. The last visit, they added PH and alkaline, this was a waste of money, resources and effort. They are doing things backwards, without purpose or end state which is to make the water clear. Bottom line, this company failed to deliver in every aspect, never kept a log of chemical levels in the pool, failed to add stabilizer to the water, which is critical in order to maintain the chlorine levels and kill bacteria, and failed to get rid of the combine chlorine which affect the total chlorine from doing its job, which is killing bacteria and making the water clear. They just kept adding chlorine to the pool, and it will only last a day or two to because they failed to stabilize the water. Below are the water results taken the day after they came:
Combined chlorine concentration is above recommended levels
Add => 2 lb 8.5 oz Calcium Hypochlorite Shock 1
A chlorine shock treatment is needed. This should be made at night or when the pool is not being used. The pool should not be used until the free available chlorine concentration is again within the ideal range.
Be sure to pre-dissolve before adding.
PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
Yesterday before leaving we asked Chapman-Wilson rep that came to provide service to our pool, to write down for us the chemicals he poured into the pool (see attachment). By looking at what he wrote and what was actually needed to be added into the pool, one can only come to understand why this company has failed to get the pool back to normal...
* 42 lb 13.1 oz Sodium Bicarbonate needed to be added to raise ALK - only 4 lbs added by Chapman-Wilson
* 43 lb 13 oz of Calcium Chloride needed to be added as Hardness is low - 0 lb added by Chapman-Wilson
* 10 lb 8.6 oz of Cyanuric Acid needed to be added as Stabilizer is low - 0 lb added by Chapman-Wilson
* 66 lb 7.9 oz of Borate recommended to be added - 0 lb added by Chapman-Wilson
* Chapman-Wilson also noted that he added 3 lb of chlorine shock (to bring chlorine within range) which it?s not a bad thing to do, but due to the actual conditions of the poll its most definitely a waste as if the pool is not stabilized first, then the chlorine will dissipate within hours which is most certainly the reason why the pool is murky and cloudy.
It is important to maintain a CLEAN SALT CELL & FILTERS so chlorine can be continuously produced, by looking at the attached pics you will be able to see that the system at this pool is in urgent need of cleaning. Salt cells that have a lot of scale or calcium build up cannot effectively produce sanitizer, have low chlorine production, increase formation of algae, reduces cell live and often create flow issues within the pool system. WILL NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
"fix" it but not to customer satisfaction, We had many "discussions" over quality of work. Asked him to be removed from the project. Chapman/Wilson refused. Said he would complete and with a smile. I was the one not smiling. Problems too numerous to discuss. Project took too long. Sloppy work. Had to have oversight or short cuts made. Not happy. Would not use again.
Workers never on time.
Electrician sub-standard; never finished the work, and did not use a level for the outlets.
Damage due to the fault of this company to our wooden floors not repaired.
Debris left in house for many weeks before removal (we resided in the house during the remodel)
Company did not level the sub-floor prior to installing new flooring. (we ended up doing that ourselves without compensation)
Company did not cut holes in the cabinet shelves for the stove vent pipe. They were going to through the shelves away (there are 3 of them). We completed this task and saved the shelves, without compensation)
Plumbers that were hired to run waterlines crushed AC duck-work under house which caused an AC failure - this had to be repaired.
Owner agreed to come and survey the process we were displeased with and the damaged floor, then he called as backed out.
Tile:
Company made us pick-up the grout from the store for the glass tile, and insisted it be sanded grout...which should not be used with glass tiles, so we brought back non-sanded grout. This caused issues between the company and the tile sub-contractor.
Company installed glass tile that was chipped and did not sand glass edges. Fought to have them repair the tiles.
Company sent tile people back to repair tile, who were angry about this. They used a roto-zip to take tiles out, causing glass shards to fly everywhere...WHILE my and my son were in the kitchen with ..no one - even the workers, where wearing eye protection. I told the company that this tile subcontractor is to stop immediately and that they are not to return to my house.
Company finally called in more professionals companies to finish the job. One for the floor (Dehu Construction), one for the tile repairs (unknown), and the electrical work (Cain Electric).
Chapman-Wilson did not repair the wood floors in the foyer and dinning room where they had stripped the sealant off. We are still living with this damage to the floors.
Photos available.
the quote and soon after started the siding. The workers put the siding
on wrong with the seams going the short way under the eve of the house
and we requested for it to be exactly as we had agreed to. They had to
remove it and replace it. During their work here the workers backed into
our chain link fence gate and broke the gate. We withheld final payment
and they kept sending us threatening letter after threatening letter.
We explained when you fix our gate we'll make the final payment. They
wouldn't answer any phone calls and just kept putting us off all the
while threatening us. We finally had to see a lawyer (it's the
principle) and have him contact them. Only THEN did they show up to fix
the gate. When my father went to the place of business to make the final
payment the owner said "it didn't have to go that far". Yeah, right it
sure didn't if they'd have just fixed the gate after they broke it.
Never ever would I use them again.
The installation was not professional in parts. When they left a gap they just covered with a piece of plastic tubing.
In the sunroom, they told us to choose the color of the paint. We went to the store of their choice, gave them the color and number. We were not home the day they painted. They decided to match the paint to the livingroom wall which was creamy white. It was supposed to be dark green. After nine coats of paint they finally got it right but they used flat paint and you cannot touch the walls without leaving white smears. They did not frame out the doorway right and that had to be changed. The ceiling was a mess, the gutters leaked and water poured down onto the windows which leaked too. We had to call them back to put up the crown moulding which they forgot to do. We were going to have them put a pool in for us but needless to say after seeing how they work we decided to go with another company.
