Customers say: Super punctual

"It went great. Guy responded same day to a request for a quote and gave us a free estimate that day. Guy was responsive, communicated well, was professional and gave his honest assessment. He gave me my choice of his scope of work. He worked with my schedule and got the job done on time, with good quality, and it looks great. I would use G&G Drywall again and would recommend him to others."

"We recently had the interior of our home painted, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The finish looks clean, fresh, and professionally done. Dezmyn was respectful and detail-oriented. They took the time to properly prep the space, kept everything neat, and made sure the final results matched exactly what we wanted. Communication was easy as well which is always a plus!"

"I Interviewed for companies to give me an estimate on staining my fence. He was the most personable honest and genuine of all 4 companies. My plans originally were to just stain my fence but after having a conversation with him he made me comfortable & showed me the value of adding my deck to the fence project. I like the fact he was a small business & family owned company. He was very timely with his estimate. Hey treated my house as if it were his house. Him and his team were so gracious in helping me move heavy items off the deck like the grill, the fire pit, etc. without complaint. The only challenge I would warn a potential customer with using Javier's Quality Painting is the weather ð . We had to wait 3 weeks to start the job but he was so patient and so accommodating that when we got a sunshine window in between between rain he was responsive & dependable as the day is long. While he was doing my job 2 of my neighbors inquired and BOTH of them will be using him to do their fence and deck Staining Jobs after seeing how beautiful my job came out. If you're looking for the best painter in the North Carolina area and you overpay and get a completed job that you're not 100% satisfied with it's your fault because you did not call Javier Quality Painting 1st!!!! "Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs.

"I used my Home Advisor App to find a pro to fix my heat in a desperate need. They contacted me immediately and made it to my home within a hour. Found the problem, took a picture of it for me to see, fixed it and brought what was wrong down for me to see and made it so I wouldn't have the same issue. Great service will be using again."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

New plaster must be fully dry and cured before painting. The drying time for plaster ranges from 1 to 4 hours, but the curing process can take more than five days, depending on various factors, including humidity levels, temperature, the amount of plaster used, and airflow in the area. You should always apply primer before painting plaster.

Whether to repair or replace water-damaged plaster depends on the scale of the damage. For small, limited areas, you can often perform a repair yourself. If you choose to paint over small patches, ensure the surface is completely dry and apply a coat of antifungal primer first to prevent mold growth. However, simply painting or plastering over the damage is only a temporary solution that doesn't address the core problem. For more extensive or long-term damage, the plaster may be compromised, and there is a risk of mold. In these cases, it is recommended to remove the damaged section of plasterboard and replace it. You may consider hiring a professional for the repair, and it's worth noting that water damage is often covered by home insurance.

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.
