"Chris responded within an hour of me posting on Home Advisor, and set up a free on-site quote. I knew exactly what I wanted after a lot of research online and talking with other Electricians and he topped it with a better plan, more power and better lighting for about the same price I was looking at. Had a good feeling meeting him and threw out other Contractors who were jerking me around. Showed up when expected and got a fairly large job of hooking up my detached work shop with 80 Amp service sub panel, grounding rods, gfci outlets, lots of lights, outside motion sensing light, and 145 feet service line from house panel in four hours with one co-worker. Passed inspection with praise from Inspector on quality of work. Couldn't be more satisfied and price was more than reasonable. I'm a DIY guy but when it comes to electricity, go with the pro. He guaranteed his work and stuck to his word. Will recommend to anyone for excellent service. Don't write reviews often but Chris Edge Electric did an awesome job. Thanks Guys!"

"Awesome job, and I was very satisfied with the result. He was very convenient, came out on a Saturday, and came earlier than the appointed time. He explained the job and what he needed to do. He immediately started on the job and was very professional and very clean. I will recommend him to others and for future electrical jobs in the house."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. If you are ever ensure, consult with a licensed professional to get their insight on best practices and whether the installation is a safe one.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.

To convert a ceiling fan to wireless, you’ll need to install a canopy module to access the lighting and fan controls. Many options are available, all of which help you control specific elements of your ceiling fan, so you have plenty of choices depending on your needs.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option.
