"We found Advantage Construction through Angie's List.  We also got recommendations from friends on two other contractors.  It was a big job: adding a rear deck, a carport, a breezeway, fencing, plus some exterior painting and finishing/enclosing cubbies in the bonus/storage room.
We got estimates from all three contractors.  Advantage had the lowest/best price by several thousands of dollars.  It was so much more reasonable, we worried it was too good to be true.  So we asked Corky (the owner) for three references.  All three of his customers got back to me with glowing reviews and recommendations.  All three said they would not hesitate to use Advantage again or to recommend the company to others.
Corky's crew worked through sweltering  heat and rainy days.  There was someone here almost every day for more than three months.  His guys were friendly, hardworking and professional.  But most importantly, they did a good job.  We are hearing nothing but compliments from our neighbors about how it all turned out.
We feel we have added tremendous value to our home while also making it a more enjoyable and comfortable place to live.

"Kirk responded quickly to our post about installing two metal grab bars in our shower. We set a date for him to purchase the grab bars and for him to look at what needed to be done. He was right on time and knew just how to install the bars. He listened to our needs and installed the bars immediately. We are more than pleased with his work and certainly would hire him again."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The plumbing industry has standardized the sizes for bathtub drains. They are 1 1/2 inches wide to fit all standard bathtubs from 14 to 26 inches deep. The standard sizing is to ensure that the drain fits into the P trap, a special part of your piping that prevents sewer water from bubbling up into your home (yuck).

Start by gutting the old fixtures and features that need to be removed, such as the tile, vanity, and flooring. You may benefit by removing the toilet, even if you intend to use the same one. Next, install the new shower or tub, followed by the flooring, and then the drywall, which you should then paint. After that, install your new cabinets, vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet, in that order. Replace your light fixture next. Lastly, reconnect the toilet.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

The time it takes to install a bathtub depends on the type of tub, the condition of the existing plumbing, and the installation's complexity. A new bathtub can be installed in four to eight hours. However, this can take longer if any additional plumbing work or bathroom modifications are needed.

Yes, you can remove a bathtub yourself if you have previous DIY experience and basic plumbing knowledge. You should have at least one other person help you if you approach this project as a DIY. However, hiring a plumber or bathroom remodeling pro can prevent accidental damage from demolition or water leakage.
