Small jobs welcome

"Mike is a very honest and honorable man, and runs his business that way. He really cares about the quality of his work and making sure the customer is satisfied. He is transparent, explains everything, cleans up beautifully. I highly recommend him and will call him again the next time I need drywall/ceiling help. Will also recommend him to neighbors and friends."

"Straight Edge Painting Pros guys did awesome. It was exactly what I had imagined. Wes was very helpful in stating having the drywall ready for paint included priming and repairing imperfections which took an extra day. The guys took the time to make sure the drywall is perfect and ready for me to paint and also installed new baseboards."

Customers say: Quality work

"Jaime & Ariel did an awesome job on our deck! both very professional & gracious. It was lots of work on hot summer days but was done in less than 2 weeks. We had a 16x20 no maintenance deck built with Trex decking & railing with a 5x11 side deck & two sets of stairs. I'm sitting out on it now writing this review, THANKS GUYS!!!!!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. Once you screw in the drywall sheet, drill a small hole into the box void, insert the spiral saw bit, and move it around the edge of the box using the inside wall as a guide. You can also use an oscillating multi-tool with an electrical box cutout for fast, professional results.

Drywall can get wet and dry out without sustaining permanent damage, but only if the water damage is minor. If you have a small leak and are quick to correct the issue and set up blower fans and dehumidifiers, your drywall should dry out. If the leak is persistent, the drywall becomes totally waterlogged, or mold begins forming on the drywall, you should remove and replace it.

A nail in drywall cannot hold very much—usually only a few pounds. A nail in a stud can add support and hold around 20 pounds. If you are trying to hang something heavier, get some help from drywall anchors—toggle bolts are very strong and able to withstand more weight.

Costs range from $500 to $5,000, depending on damage size, labor, and finishing requirements.

You’ll get better results if you soundproof the whole wall. A hole through which light can pass can also let sound waves in. Acoustical or silicone sealant applied to holes and cracks can block enough sound to make a difference. However, the more layers absorb vibrations and slow or stop sound waves, the less noise you’ll have.
