Small jobs welcome

"When Travis came to look at our project, he immediately knew what to do and exactly how to fix it. We had not been able to get any grass to grow and the soil had been so washed away that tree roots were exposed and a dangerous trip hazard. He and his crew were prompt, efficient, and extremely thorough. Within a week of him being here we had green grass growing all throughout out yard. Travis did an extraordinary job of grading/resloping/seeding our side and back yard. I highly recommend this company for high quality, professional results."

"Clearly Leveled Up was great. They arrived on time and started working right away. The workers, Mike and BJ were very professional. They were courteous and very easy to converse with. They did exactly what we asked for and we love it !!! Wish we could have sent the photos of the work but the system keeps telling us the file was too large."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

It takes one hour to dig a 10-foot trench by hand. Use a trenching shovel with a sharp tip and a long head. Plan for more time if your soil is heavy or rocky. Consider renting a trencher if you’re digging a long or deep trench or if you have challenging soil or terrain.

Excavation and grading are both generally necessary for designing your foundation, and leveling the ground where your foundation will go. These steps can also prepare the area by removing vegetation and anything else that could interfere with your home’s foundation.

Most states do not require excavation companies to hold specific licenses, but many require at least a contractor’s license. Additionally, heavy equipment operators require a special commercial equipment license to operate machinery required for excavation. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to confirm that an excavation company you’re considering hiring is fully licensed. You should also make sure that the excavation team is fully insured before allowing them to work on your property.

A joint utility trench, or joint trench, is a long, buried ditch on a property that contains two or more utility lines rather than running the lines in multiple trenches. Some utilities, like gas and electric or electric and communication lines, are better suited to joint trenching, while others, like water and sewer, are not allowed to be in the same trench.
