Climbing trees in these great Appalachian mountains is amazing every day. Schofield Tree Patrol services Haywood and Buncombe counties primarily but also works in Jackson and Swain counties. We use precision lowering techniques on trees that may be close to your house or other structures to trim lower branches or on larger trees that may have heavy limbs over your gorgeous house/barn/shed/car/. We climb trees that are dying or perfectly healthy trees who simply grew in the wrong place but if it must be removed Schofield Tree Patrol can take it down and haul it away. Every tree or limb taken off the property will be recycled in various ways. Schofield Tree Patrol can also remove stumps and offers tree replacement assistance. Turn your winter view into a year long view without topping trees. We offer sustainable view trimming options for large or small view. Overall at Schofield Tree Patrol LLC we take pride in the work we do and will offer you the best solutions for your tree needs. We are always on time.

"Did a great job."

"Randy and Luke were excellent! They were both really trustworthy, helpful, and considerate, and did the engineering work for the project carefully. Randy was very responsive any time I texted or emailed him, often replying on the same day (even on weekends!), and patiently and thoroughly answered all our many questions. They started the job when promised, finished it promptly even though we told them we were in no rush, and made helpful suggestions that resulted in a better project outcome. They even came back to do a little touch-up work we wanted even though we’d already paid them in full (some contractors would not have come back). We’re very happy with their work, and will definitely hire them again if we need more landscaping done."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

Whether tree roots will regrow after the tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some eventually tree roots die, as they lack photosynthesis; however, others can resprout from the roots and even produce new growth for up to seven years or more, if they belong to a species that reproduces through root sprouts.

It will take you anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours per tree stump to grind and remove the stump from the ground. The larger the size, the longer it will take to remove the stump. Also, keep in mind that rocky soil may require local excavation services to loosen up large boulders before you can begin to remove the tree stump.

The safest way to cut down a tree is to make sure you’re completely prepared and have done all the necessary safety checks, including double-checking your equipment is in good working order, you have plenty of clearance to fell the tree, you’re wearing all the safety gear, and you have a partner to help you (who should also be wearing safety gear).

A pro can guide you on the alternatives to tree topping depending on the specific issues within your trees. For example, if you’re dealing with breakage and cracks in your tree, they may suggest canopy reduction, which removes less than 25% of the tree’s limbs. If you’re dealing with lesser damage, some intentional pruning may be all you need. If you’re looking to get a clearer view through your tree, the pro may also try windowing or skirting your tree.
