"Lesson learned. Always get an estimate. BEFORE the work is done. At least a digital copy. Arrangements for the project were made, with some one named Lynn, for the company to send someone to complete the work. We were quoted over the phone 4500-5000 which included a mold test. A sub contractor with an entirely different company (National Mold Company) was sent. When the contractor arrived, he stated that the job would be much more simpler than first thought. This led us to believe that the job would cost less, no. All said and done, they charged $5500. All said and done, it's almost like no work was done. The stains and the smell are still there. Only one actual board was taken upon the attic room. The ceiling in the bedroom was primed and painted but are still visible and have a funky smell. At this point I'm going to. Do what we should have done; Do the job ourselves. Just now with $5500 less dollars in our pockets. A detailed receipt was not given even though it was requested."

"Reggie did an outstanding job! He was very thorough and explained everything he was doing. He told me when he found things that concerned him and why. I even found mold that I had not seen before. He not only did an outstanding job with the inspection and testing of the mold in my house, but told me ways I could remediate it without having to pay tens of thousands of dollars with a company coming in to do it. I would highly recommend Reggie to anyone suspicious of having mold in their house!"

"We found water damage last October under our kitchen floor from a broken icemaker water line, We had a difficult time finding a contractor because everyone was in southeastern NC fixing flood damage from Hurricane Florence. Finally got Emerg-NC to come over and hired them to help us get the damage repaired. Josh and Fred were excellent in the assistance they provided us. Josh was our primary contact throughout the process, and he was always prompt in calling us back when we had questions. After a few weeks, the damage was repaired and we are back to normal. They were excellent, and I would definitely hire them again if the need arises."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

Hazardous waste is waste that poses a threat to human or environmental health. This generally refers to waste that is flammable, corrosive, toxic, or reactive. To confirm if the waste you need to remove is considered hazardous waste, contact your local hazardous waste facility.

Exterior paint contains a higher level of VOCs, which can be dangerous if you’re exposed to it for a long period of time. The good news is that paint’s toxicity reduces significantly once fully dried and cured. Do not keep open exterior paint cans in your home, basement, or garage, exposing your household to harmful chemicals over time.

If your house was built before 1978 and you’re noticing cracking or peeling paint, a lead paint inspection is a good idea. A lead paint inspection gives you accurate information about the presence, location, and condition of lead-based paint in your home. This information is essential for making informed decisions about lead paint removal to ensure your safety and health and that of your family. If your inspector finds lead, you’ll need to take steps to manage or remove the lead-based paint and comply with laws and regulations.

Properties should be tested for lead every 2-3 years, especially if they are older, have undergone renovations, or show deterioration of paint or interior finishes.

You do not have to remove lead paint if the surface is not chipping or peeling or if there are no pregnant people or children under the age of six who live in or regularly visit your home. Lead paint is a particular risk for young children whose brains and bodies are not fully developed. Experts strongly recommend that you call a pro to remove lead paint if it’s peeling or flaking, no matter who lives in the home. You can experience lead poisoning by breathing in or ingesting just a small amount of it.
