National Water Heater is a full service plumbing company specializing in water heaters. We are located in Greenville, NC and proudly service residential and commercial clients throughout Eastern North Carolina. As a local plumbing company, we love working with our neighbors. Our reputation relies on our ability, speed, and service. Although the focus of our company is water heaters, we also do many other plumbing services. We enjoy interacting with homeowners and the satisfaction of providing the best services at the best price.

"Very professional installation with above-and-beyond analysis of our issues. Our older home had an old electric boiler tank in the corner of the kitchen and I thought the tankless might go there...but Peter walked through and suggested a more efficient and cost-saving way to install at a different location. The home needed a lot of work to bring it up to code, but that was no issue. The gas inspector had good things to say about the exceptional work and passed immediately. It was a pleasure to work with someone who could take care of all the issues from start to finish... offer useful suggestions about placement of the heater, handle all the gas and plumbing issues, and do a clean & professional installation. We love our tankless water heater! We set it at 140 degrees and have HOT water without worrying about who else might be taking a shower."

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

Only yellow Teflon tape is approved for use on gas lines. Also called yellow PTFE tape, it is thicker and specifically rated for use on natural gas and propane connections. Standard white Teflon tape is not safe for gas applications. If you have questions about sealing gas line connections, contact a pro like a gas line contractor or plumber who installs or runs gas lines.

Yes, most states require a plumber to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Check our state licensing tool to review the local plumber guidelines.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification, which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Fixing a gas leak costs about $45 to $150 per hour for a plumber or gas line specialist. The job’s overall cost will vary depending on the location of the leak. A leaky junction or connection behind the stove or dryer will likely cost about $120 to $170. But for a leak that requires a gas fitter or plumber to excavate a pipe in the yard, the cost could rise to $1,500 to $5,000. Keep in mind that gas leaks are very serious issues, so don’t hesitate to contact a plumber or gas line specialist immediately.

Take this one seriously! If your oven smells like gas when it’s off, this is a telltale sign of a gas leak that can lead to a fire or explosion. In addition, a small leak has the potential to turn into a major leak without warning if any part of your piping or tubing breaks. Potential sources of a leak include the gas valve, burner, joint, or connection lines behind the stove. If the leak appears to be significant, you should contact the gas company or fire department.

Most qualified local plumbers in your area should be able to help with this job. However, it's always best to check with your utility company before starting any gas-related project. Speak with them about your needs and request recommendations for licensed plumbers who can pull permits and properly install the line.
