"Trevor has been an amazing contractor who has helped us through the process of installing a large interior door for an office. He has helped ensure the space was properly prepared for installation of the door. The other contractors who have assisted Trevor have also exceeded my expectations. They have been extremely detail oriented and have done everything to ensure the best outcome. I would definitely work with Trevor for any future projects."

"Mr. Herman is a true and trusted professional. His attention to detail is beyond reproach. His prices were far below my initial estimate and the work was professionally accomplished and in a timely manner. Mark created a stairwell to access the basement from the main floor where none existed and did BEAUTIFUL work. Mark also arranged for a sub-contractor to sand and finish our hard wood floors throughout the entire house for a reasonable price. He is a hard-working, true professional craftsman who obviously knows his trade and we would hire him again to accomplish any task in our house. A better company would be hard to find for the quality of work and the price. We are extremely pleased with the final product."

"I hired two helpers for 2 hours on October 17,2020. The two helpers (names unknown) arrived at my home (127 Gado Way, Loudon) and immediately started unloading the Penske truck with the contents being moved into my garage. Some of these boxes and some bare items were very heavy and awkward. After this with plenty of the 2 hours remaining we took the truck to a nearby storage unit where they helped load all items then return to my home and unload into the garage. The two men hired worked vigorously without complaint during the entire operation taking no breaks except to drink a bit of water. I would recommend these two workers anytime for any type of assistance. Please extend our thanks to these two men again for us, John & Linda Sutton"

"I hired this contractor to do a complete, full-house interior remodel based on several excellent reviews from prior customers, and he and his team exceeded all of our expectations. In addition to being highly skilled, he was professional, dependable, reasonable on costs, patient, and a pleasure to work with. Best of all, he and his team did excellent quality work. He also made a number of useful recommendations to enhance the overall look of our finished project. We consider ourselves lucky to have found HTR Interiors and would hire this contractor again without any hesitation. A real find in the interior remodeling field."

"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can add a kitchenette to a basement. However, you’ll have to consider the costs associated with basement kitchenettes. If you’re starting from scratch in an unfinished basement, you’ll need to account for brand-new plumbing, electrical, flooring, and more in addition to the cost of the kitchenette. If you’re putting a kitchenette in an already finished basement equipped with plumbing and electrical, you’ll save considerable money.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement.

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. Be sure to avoid painting multiple coats onto any wires, as that traps heat and poses fire risks.

The average cost of remodeling a basement is $30 to $75 per square foot. If your space is unfinished and looks like it may need more help, use the higher number when calculating your estimated basement remodeling costs. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional 20% to the top of your estimate to cover any “what if” situations.

Building up by adding square footage to the top of your home is often less expensive than adding a basement, but it depends on the specifics of your house, your property, and supply costs. Because building a basement requires excavation, it can be a more expensive option than building up.

Yes, in most cases, finishing a basement is worth the cost. The project adds valuable, usable square footage to your home and typically provides a return on investment (ROI) of 70% to 75%. For example, an average basement refinishing project costing $32,000 could add between $22,400 and $24,000 to your property's value. The final value added depends on factors like your location, the quality of materials and workmanship, and the features you include, such as a living space, bedroom, or bathroom. To be officially counted in your home's total square footage, the finished space must comply with all local building codes, including requirements for points of egress. However, in areas prone to flooding, a finished basement might be seen as a liability by potential buyers and could potentially decrease your home's value.
