"I would highly recommend Art Wood Designs. They did a fantastic job removing our old cabinets and countertop and then installing the new cabinets. They were very meticulous in everything they did and very professional. I am extremely happy with my new kitchen cabinets!!"

"JM Marble and Granite did an amazing job replacing our old countertop with a new, modern Quartz countertop. The process was extremely easy and JM made a great recommendation that saved us some money. After going to the showroom to pick out our slab, JM suggested a different slab that was more economical and that we actually liked better. After the slab selection the work was completed very quickly and scheduled to fit with the timing of the entire kitchen redesign. Installation took less than one day. JM also did our bathroom countertops and built-in desk top to match the kitchen. Their work was very high quality and looks amazing. We highly recommend this contractor."

"Working with Imported Stone was great! I was nervous about all the things that could go wrong, but thankfully it was easy. The measuring and fabrication went smoothly and then installation was a breeze. Absolutely in love with our new countertops and we get lots of complements."

"I couldn't be happier with my new countertops. From start to finish Sam and Tony took great care of me. They are thorough, customer focused, competitive in price and a pleasure to do business with. They gave me a lot of great advice throughout the process and their work product is second to none. They really to treat your house/project as if they are working on their own house. I highly recommend them!"

"One of the owners of this company, Geoff, and the representative of the company, Robert Ussery were unfailingly polite but refused to take responsibility for mistakes made by their employees. The installers broke a piece of granite, which was replaced, but does not match as well as the original to the rest of the countertops. They cut wires that it took two master electricians to figure out, took out plumbing parts that the plumber said were not necessary to remove and had to be replaced. I was told by Robert before the work began that they would remove and reinstall the cooktop and sink. When the work was done, they could not reinstall, causing me to hire a plumber and electrician as well as having the gas company reconnect the cooktop gas. They did not clean up after themselves and since they chose to cut the opening for the cooktop on site, there was considerable granite dust. The final product is satisfactory, but the process was exceedingly painful."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Epoxy is typically more affordable than granite, especially if you’re choosing a high-end slab. Most granite countertops cost $75 to $145 per square foot to install, with high-end varieties topping $185 per square foot.

In contrast, epoxy countertops cost $50 to $150 per square foot to install. The material costs for epoxy are significantly lower than granite, but installation costs can be higher. Rather than simply cutting granite countertops to size before installation, your contractor will need to carefully pour the epoxy over an existing surface.

Corian® is a popular countertop alternative to quartz. Created from an acrylic resin and natural minerals, Corian® resembles quartz and offers some similar benefits, but it comes at a cheaper price. Corian® countertops cost an average of $26 to $65 per square foot, which is less than half of what quartz countertops usually cost. The downside is that Corian® isn’t as durable as quartz, particularly regarding its resistance to scratches and high temperatures.

The average lifespan of an epoxy countertop is around 10 years, but this material can last longer with proper maintenance. This material happens to be resistant to most kinds of countertop damage (think: water and heat damage) though damage can happen. In the event you do damage your epoxy, you can often fill it with an epoxy repair kit.

Marble countertops are often considered better than limestone because of their superior durability and luxurious appearance. Marble is harder and less prone to scratching and denting, though it still requires maintenance and sealing to prevent stains and etching. Marble is typically more expensive, but its beautiful veining and range of colors offer a high-end look.

Yes, you can put hot pots on concrete countertops, but only if they’ve been properly sealed. While the concrete itself is heat-resistant, the sealant may not be, meaning heat may discolor the sealant, so use caution.
