"We got assigned this vendor through American Home Shield on June 7. Our AC unit was not holding 79 degrees in our upper floor. The tech came 5 days later and diagnosed a leak in the evaporator coil. They replaced it one week later ($3.5k). The following day, the unit was functioning worse than prior to the installation not holding 80 degrees in any of the floors. We called and came again 3 days later. One would expect they would come earlier as it was a follow up. They told us they need it to re-adjust the temperature of the compressor, apparently (they told us) this is common after coil replacement (why this was not done first? no idea!). One day after the visit, the unit still cannot hold 80 degrees in both floors. It is obvious the tech has no idea of what he is doing. At this point I am not sure the initial diagnosis and replacement of the coil (with the consequent fees of adding new refrigerant, $1800 + hand labor+ modifications, all not covered by AHS) was correct. Extremely frustrated experience. I would not recommend this vendor."

Natural gas companies advise only shutting off the gas supply at the meter yourself if you smell natural gas or suspect there is a leak, typically following an emergency. Instead, you can shut off gas to individual appliances when necessary. If you want to turn off your natural gas entirely, you should contact your utility company. You’ll generally also need to acquire a permit to work on your natural gas line.

Although a gas company supplies gas to homes, connecting gas appliances, like a dryer, is not their responsibility. The primary role of a gas company is to safely deliver gas to a property and maintain the gas supply lines up to a specific point, typically the gas meter or shut off valve. The easiest way to empty a propane tank is to simply use it until no propane remains. If you’re short on time and need a faster solution, transfer the propane to another tank instead. Wear leather gloves to protect your hands, then connect the hoses from both propane tanks and seal them tightly. Turn the knob to open the supply tank valve on the full tank and let it run until the pressure pushes all the propane into the other tank. When all propane is transferred, remove the hose and seal each tank.
