"J&C Hardscapes LLC did a fantastic job. Angi Gave me three references. A large company failed to respond. J&C Spent their time ministering what needed to be done. I had another company to come out. They gave me a price on the spot, I did not feel comfortable with their estimation. JNC took their time measuring and got back with me in two days. Their price was higher than the other company. I felt more comfortable with J&C Hardscapes. Carlos and his company did an excellent job installing the retaining wall. Once the wall was completed, it was perfectly constructed. One of their employees took pictures of his work because he was proud of it, To me that says it all. I would highly recommend J&C Hardscapes to anyone interested."

"Hugo did an excellent job, putting in a brand new bathroom with shower floors, walls ceiling, light fixtures, raise the roof in one area of my bedroom from 7 foot to 9 foot tiling stained some parts of the wood floor, and all new walls in the bedroom and lighting. Hugo did an excellent job on all and I have been enjoying it for a while."

"Ernesto took photos of our 70x15 foot shed, prepared a detailed estimate describing each step of the work to be done, waited until the weather was good for painting, and he his very courteous employees worked steadily for hours each good day to complete the job. The shed was scraped and sanded until the boards were smooth. The shed is beautifully primed and painted. It looks like the shed is enclosed in plastic. Gorgeous. Ernesto Valladares made sure the area was cleaned up after the work was done. Great job!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

Lack of durability is the most significant downside of painting tile. However, a painted tile backsplash doesn't see the same kind of action as, say, painted flooring tiles. For backsplashes, the durability of the finish is crucial because they often require cleaning. However, you can minimize the durability problem by using mild cleaners and water on the painted surfaces.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.
