Customers say: True professional

"Great! We love & use our new backyard all the time. Even our neighbors love what we’ve had done. We had 828 remove existing & damaged fencing, level the yard, build a retaining wall with steps & lighting with timers, pour a large concrete pad & a walkway to a fire pit pad, correct drainage with drains & a river rock bed, fix existing safety lighting, plant 7’ trees +. They’re also easy to work with & communicate regularly & honestly. Thx Max & crew!"

"We hired Engineered Retaining Walls to construct a series of Retaining Walls to establish a strong and permanent foundation for a 27 foot by 7 foot combination hot tub spa, swimming / plunge pool and patio entertaining area. The best available area was on a hillside in the front of our mountain home. Art Miller and his team of professionals met with us several times to determine what our desire and plan for the project included. ERWalls staked out a construction area, performed a detailed LIDAR elevation survey of the topography and staked out a plan. Before beginning ERWalls.com helped us determine the scope of the project to ensure it was well understood. Once construction began, an ERWalls supervisor discussed every step and worked up agreeable solutions to each problem encountered. ERWalls completed the project in time to support the start of installation of the Swimming Pool without delay and worked with the Pool Contractor to build the walls and patio to complete the project without delays."

"Diego and his crew did a great job on our retaining wall. They showed up when they said they would, kept us updated throughout the project, and the finished wall came out even better than we expected. Everything looks clean and solid, and you can tell they take pride in their work. Definitely recommend Zone Hardscapes!"

Patios questions, answered by experts

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.

If you’re trying to decide between a sunroom and a screened-in porch, the right choice will depend on your priorities. A screened-in porch costs only a fraction of the price of a sunroom, but in exchange, it has much more limited use. A sunroom will add more value to your home, but at a much higher up-front cost and longer construction timeline.

Whether it's better to add a sunroom or a regular room to your home depends on your goals. If you need extra bedrooms, building rooms with four standard walls makes more sense than adding a sunroom. If you don't need extra sleeping areas but would like to expand the living space of your home, a sunroom makes sense.

Creating a screen room is one of the most cost-effective ways to enclose a patio so you can still use it in the winter. Most screen rooms aren’t insulated, so you’ll need to wrap up warm or use patio heaters in winter. Also, be aware they might not hold up well if you live in a location where heavy snow is common.

Yes, adding a sunroom can increase your home's value, with a return on investment (ROI) ranging from 20% for a screen room to 50% for a three- or four-season room. The amount of value added depends on the design. Fully insulated, temperature-controlled four-season sunrooms add the most value as they can be included in the home's total living space. In contrast, simpler structures like Arizona rooms or solariums typically have a lower return as they don't count as legal living space. A high-quality sunroom can also be an attractive feature for potential buyers, especially those who enjoy gardening. The value may also be higher in warmer climates where this feature is more sought after. When deciding, consider both the potential resale value and the personal value you will get from using the room.
