"Cory Harrison installed my bamboo flooring, but he did not allow enough room in his cuts to allow the flooring to expand properly with changes in humidity; therefore, the floors have buckled in numerous places. It buckled so badly in front of my front door that I could no longer use the front door and I had to remove it, saw it down and reinstall the door. He also removed my old dishwasher and did not close the pipe that ran from my kitchen sink to the dishwasher, so water leaked all over my kitchen floor. Cory consistently was difficult to get a hold of and to schedule work with; when I finally told him my concerns about his lack of communication and delays on the work he had been contracted to do, he told me to find someone else to fix my chimney, which is the main job that I needed done in the first place. He then told me that I needed to "give him a reason" and "convince him to come" out to do the work that he had been hired to do. Cory was paid in full for the work he did for me, although the work was deficient to say the least. He is not someone that I would recommend to anyone, particularly a woman."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Ceiling fans provide a number of advantages for your home. They help circulate air throughout your home to avoid stagnant environments, and they can help lower utility bills if they keep you from switching on your air conditioning. Between built-in lighting and modern styling, ceiling fans can also add aesthetic appeal to your space.

The basic cost to install a ceiling fan ranges from $145 to $355 and averages $250. If the installation has higher demands, such as new or complex wiring, your bill will likely be on the higher end. Other factors, such as an included light kit, installing switches, and ease of access can also affect the final cost.

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

It’s possible to install your own ceiling fans if you’re replacing an existing one. This work doesn’t require a permit and technically doesn’t necessitate a certified electrician, but it’s still a good idea to hire one. There’s always a safety risk when working with electrical components, even if you shut the power off at the breaker. If you’re installing a new ceiling fan where there currently isn’t a fixture, you will need a licensed electrician to run the new wiring and pull permits for the work.
