"I hired Copper Works because they were the only full service gutter company that also specialized in full service roofing. They replaced my entire gutter system and repaired some sections of my roof at the same time. Overall I was very pleased with their work. Everyone involved on this project was friendly and helpful, especially Eric and Matt. I have a large house so it took their 4 man crew 2 1/2 days to complete the job. But the wait was worth it. A day after completion, we had a extreme rain storm. My gutters held up magnificently. I'm glad went with 3"x4" downspouts and 6" gutters. Plus, I had no rain leakage from the roof area they replaced. I will definitely call Copper Works in the next 2-3 years when the time arrives to replace my house's entire roof."

"Had Concord Gutter Service out to replace our old leaky gutters. From the estimate to cleanup they were top notch. They helped me determine the best downspout placement for our drainage issue. They ended up replacing some rotten sections of wood better than any carpenter we could have found. The gutters look great. I highly recommend!"

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

When you need to repair your galvanized gutters from leaks and caulk isn’t doing the job, you can solder your gutters with a roofer’s soldering iron. First, you’ll need to clean your gutters thoroughly with a wire brush and remove rust and oxidized paint. Next, you’ll make weld points on the gutter and solder over the connection until it’s completely smooth. You can also hire a roofing company near you to tackle this project.

If your gutters get overwhelmed every time it rains, adding an extra downspout is a solution. First, you'll need to decide where to add the downspout. If your current setup only has a single downspout, one option is to place a new one at the opposite end of the gutter. If you already have a downspout at each end, adding a third one in the middle can help to lighten the load.

You can hire a professional to add a downspout yourself by cutting into the existing gutter and attaching the necessary parts, such as an outlet and brackets.

If you don't want to install gutter guards, the most common and inexpensive alternative is regular gutter cleaning, either annually, biannually, or as soon as they start to fill up. Using a leaf blower attachment can make this process easier. Other products designed to reduce cleanings include gutter screens (made of wire mesh, nylon, or foam), which are typically less expensive than a full gutter guard installation. You can also find guards and inserts designed specifically to protect your downspouts or opt for a whole gutter system like LeafGuard, which integrates the gutter and guard into a single product.

Absolutely—and lots of it. Overflowing water from your gutters can damage your siding and your roof. All of the moisture getting into the cracks and crevices of your home can lead to mold or mildew problems down the line. In addition, when water pools around your home, it needs a place to go—and sometimes it ends up inside the house, creating a very unwanted flood.

Any small amount of standing water can be damaging to your gutters. It’s recommended that a ¼ inch puddle or more should be addressed. Failure to keep water from pooling in your gutters can result in clogs, algae growth, and pests that damage your gutters over time.
