"Donin and Dorian did a wonderful painting job! Everything--floors, carpets, furniture, etc.--was covered completely during the process, and the finished product was lovely. "Absolutely OUTSTANDING.
Owner Jeff is the ultimate professional.  Completely knowledgeable, flexible, punctual, patient, while being very personable.
Over the decades here in New Bern, I have interviewed and hired dozens of various contractors.  Most, quite honestly, are not worth the powder to blow away.  Case in point, another outfit gave an estimate for this job.  Verbally, they quoted three times as much as Jeff.  Then they promised a follow-up written estimate.  That was the last we heard from those jokers.

While a pressure washer is certainly powerful enough to remove old and peeling paint, this is not a great idea to do yourself. The pressure washer is so powerful that you could actually damage the walls as you strip away the paint. It’s best to leave paint stripping to the pros. 

WD-40 is an effective way to remove glue and other sticky residue from many surfaces, including wood. Spray the WD-40 on the area, allow the product to sit for a few minutes, then carefully wipe away the residue. As with other adhesive removal methods, test the WD-40 on an inconspicuous spot first to ensure it won’t damage the finish. 

You can find chemical and naturally derived paint thinners to remove paint without as much sanding. A heat gun or pressure washer can also remove paint from large areas. However, sanding is often the best way to remove the final bits of paint that remain on the surface.

Technically, mineral spirits are a type of paint thinner, so they can be used for the same purposes. In most cases, pure mineral spirits are preferable to other paint thinners. Still, if necessary, you can successfully use paint thinners for most of the same applications, such as thinning or cleaning oil paints.

Using a wire brush, forcefully scrub the surface to remove paint from metal. You’ll want to remove any lingering rust, too. For larger areas with caked-on rust, you may need to use a wire brush drill attachment. If the paint still won’t budge, apply a chemical paint stripper to the area and scrape off the paint, after following the paint stripper’s instructions.
