"I couldn’t be happier with the grading work they did for me! From start to finish, they were professional, dependable, and clearly took pride in their work. They showed up when they said they would, did an excellent job, and paid attention to the details. The finished grading turned out better than I expected, and they left everything looking clean, level, and well done. It’s obvious that they know what they’re doing and genuinely care about making their customers happy. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing grading or excavation work. Great communication, great workmanship, and a great experience overall. I will definitely use them again for any future projects!"

"Wayne and his crew were amazing! I plan on hiring them again for phase 2 and 3 of our project. They were true professionals/craftsmen, they kept us informed of their progress - we live out of state from our vacation home. We have them total access to our home - keys/security, etc. They kept everything secure. When issues arose Wayne called and we talked through everything to reach an agreement. At times, Wayne made suggestions we hadn't thought about - we went with his suggestions and were extremely happy we did. The company is a full service organization - Great people to work with."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

Land surveying can help give clear guidance on your property boundaries for numerous situations. And in some cases, having your land surveyed is a requirement. Some common reasons to have your land surveyed include:

  • Planning for construction projects, like building a fence

  • Locating utilities, such as plumbing fixtures

  • Settling property line disputes

  • Creating subdivisions

  • Meeting mortgage requirements

  • Selling your property

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.

You will find a collection of licensed land surveyors in your area. Your real estate agent or construction manager may also be able to recommend a trusted professional. When speaking with prospective pros in your area, ask the land surveyor if they are licensed in the state, have liability insurance, and can quote you a fee before starting.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

Soil testers and licensed excavators are often the professionals you hire if you need a perc test. In some cases, structural engineers will also be able to conduct the test for you. In many municipalities, you’ll need your professional on-site to dig and fill the holes with water, as well as a representative from your local building department or health department. That representative is the individual who will determine whether your test passes or fails.
