Emergency services offered

"My home has a chimney that was unsafe to use (cracked masonry liner). I dreaded the time and cost of a tear down and replacement. I contacted "Shamrock Chimney" and scheduled an appointment with their lead technician "Tony". He suggested a less costly and safer alternative (steel liner and a resealing of the outer brickwork. The work was performed over a two-day period. I am fully satisfied with the results. One thing I really apricate is the communication during the project. The "front office" would let me know by either phone or email when the project would start, and then Tony and would give me updates. All and all the whole process went smoothly. Also, this was my first time with "Angi", I hope to use their services again in the future."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Basic fireplace service takes one to two hours for standard sweeping and inspections. Complex repairs, like installing a chimney liner or repointing mortar, require one to two days. Gas conversions take up to three days. Schedule your service outside of the October through December peak season in Cary to avoid long wait times. Local permit inspections or post-storm surge demand will extend your project timeline.

Helpful?

Licensed heating and cooling contractors handle the installation, repair, and annual maintenance for gas log service. Hire a licensed plumbing professional for any new gas line installations or modifications. Certified chimney sweeps manage flue liner installations and damper modifications. Fireplace specialty dealers provide retail options and subcontract licensed technicians for the actual gas work. All professionals must pull the required permits for work in Cary and across NC.

Helpful?

The hot, humid summers in NC accelerate corrosion on gas valves and burner assemblies during the long off-season. High pollen counts in the spring clog pilot assemblies and burner ports. Schedule your gas log service in late summer to avoid the peak demand window from October through February. Prepare for sudden ice storms that freeze gas valves and trigger emergency repair needs across Cary.

Helpful?

High humidity in NC's Piedmont region accelerates rust, creosote buildup, and mortar damage. Wake County’s clay soil causes foundation shifting, which stresses your chimney masonry over time. Occasional ice storms also create freeze-thaw cycles that crack chimney crowns. For long-lasting fireplace service, hire certified professionals who follow all state and local building codes to ensure your system withstands the local climate safely.

Helpful?

Start by scheduling an immediate safety inspection for your gas log service setup before the first use. Verify that your carbon monoxide detectors meet current NC building codes. Assess your existing wood-burning fireplace to confirm firebox compatibility for a gas conversion. Finally, check the gas pressure and conduct a pre-season inspection every fall to ensure pilot assemblies remain clean and functional throughout the mild Cary winters.
