Elite Installation is a professional and experienced installer of swing sets and play sets. We have been installing swing sets since 2003 and have successfully installed over 40,000 swing sets across a broad range of manufacturers. Licensed and insured, Elite Installation has also been a certified Rainbow Play Systems Installer for over 9 years.

"Hired them twice and each time they did a great job. The first was when we bought our Woodplay playset used from a young family that was moving. Elite moved from Holly Springs to North Raleigh. The second was when we moved a year later to accommodate our growing family. We had the playset re-stained. I highly recommend these guys."

"I’m really disappointed to be writing this review. I contacted Billie Ann in November of 2020 in hopes of having a play set built for my kids. She seemed great and we agreed that her company would come out to build a version of their “cabin fever” playhouse. Given the context of Covid demands and supply issues she said they probably wouldn’t be able to build until February but that was understandable. I sent her a 50% deposit to get the ball rolling. February moved in and I hadn’t had an update or confirmed date to start so I reached out. Billie Ann was apologetic and listed a number of reasons they were running behind but said they’d be able to come out in March. From then on this was our cycle. I would call her every 2 months, she would explain around the delays and reassure me they’d be out soon. After waiting for a full year for the playhouse to be built (and having some super disappointed kids) I reached out via email to Billie Ann in November of 2021 and told her that there were no hard feelings but that I couldn’t wait any longer. Less than 24 hours later she texted me in the evening that they would be out to start the next morning. No utilities marked, no plans made, no previous arrangements to make sure that we’d be home. It felt like a frantic response to my email, not a well executed construction plan. I said no thanks. She texted another long explanation for delays and short notice but ultimately seemed to understand and said she’d get my deposit in the mail to me that week. It is now the end of April 2022 and I haven’t seen the money. This company appears to do good work. Unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to see that for ourselves. It seems that I have paid them over $2000 to ghost me."

Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts

Rubber mulch is widely considered the best material to place under a playset. This material option provides more cushioning than traditional wood mulch for added protection, remains cooler than sand and most other materials in direct sunlight, and it’s low maintenance. Rubber mulch is slightly more expensive than other common options at $120 per cubic yard on average, whereas pine bark mulch is $30 per cubic yard. But when it comes to your children’s safety, the investment is worthwhile. Consult your playground equipment installation company about material recommendations before starting this project.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

Whether or not you need a building permit for a playground depends on where you live. Some municipalities will require a permit for the construction of any playground equipment while others will only mandate one if you use a concrete foundation for any portion of the equipment. You can check with your local building department or a professional playground installer to see if your project requires a permit. Some municipalities also require a fence if you have a playground, and fence construction will almost always require a building permit.

Costs depend on equipment size, site preparation, and additional features like soft ground covering.

Playground installation costs around $500 on average, which doesn’t include the cost of the playground itself. Most homeowners spend between $150 and $1,200 on the labor to install a playground, plus between $100 and $1,500 on the playground equipment. The cost of professional installation depends on a few different factors:

  • Type and size of the playground

  • Whether or not you need land leveling before installation

  • Accessibility of your yard

  • Whether you buy a premade playground or a custom one

  • Local permitting costs, if necessary
