"Xterra did an excellent job replacing my asphalt shingle roof. They responded within a day, communicated clearly throughout the project, and offered competitive pricing compared to other companies I contacted. The quality of their work was outstanding, and I highly recommend them!"

"Five men completed the entire removal job in about 4 hours. Their crane was able to lift the crowns and trunks of the trees cleanly above other very tall trees in my front yard. The total lift had to be well over 100 feet. The stump grinding was done in the morning of the next day. All of the men were very professional. They also cut down one small tree near the end of my driveway, and made several cuts through a nearby brushpile to compact it at no extra charge. As with my job in October, they placed large pieces of plywood with timbers on top of them on my lawn to prevent any damage from the crane's outriggers. They blew the street, my lawn, driveway and walkways free of all leaves and debris. The equipment used included their large crane, a log-hauling truck with its own crane, and a large heavy-duty chipper to handle branches up to 6-8' in diameter. Their website video of their crane working to remove a huge pine, and their previous job for me in October, 2012 convinced me that they can handle the toughest jobs safely and efficiently.

"'B-/C+' is the real grading. He manages several non-English speaking crews and so the quality of varies and no recourse with the people performing the work. The jobs looks good from afar, but the details are lacking. Many houses here are built with a "carpenter's gap" (google it). The workers did not mention this to me or to James Taylor, the consequence is my roof continues to let in vermin and this is now much more expensive to fix (I offered to pay the difference to fix this, never heard back). The workers also slid down the shingles and there is shingle wear where they slid down on their butts. The roof is functioning correctly, although we have sealed a several popped nails. The siding install was just the siding, the quote apparently did not include painting/sealing where the trim butts up against the siding ( I was told this is standard practice, so now I have to get up on a ladder and paint this myself). I was glad house wrap was included, but the work was carelessly cut and not according to Tyvek's overlap specification nor fastening (see picture. Manufacturer specification specifies a 6" overlap (red dots) and washered fasteners). Billing was clear enough. Email/phone response times long."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

To maintain custom or fabricated metal structures and extend their lifespan and appearance, perform regular cleaning, apply rust prevention treatments, and use protective coatings.

Your typical household tools will not cut a metal pipe. To cut a metal pipe, you’d need more specialized tools like a pipe cutter or circular saw. Do not attempt to use these tools without taking proper safety precautions and wearing safety gear. It’s usually safer to let a pro cut a metal pipe, especially if you’re not confident in your skills with a heavy-duty saw.

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

Since water heaters are primarily made of metal, they’re commonly accepted by scrap yards and collectors. Don’t expect to fetch a high price, though—water heaters are mostly steel and aluminum, which aren’t high-value metals. Some components are made of more valuable metals, like brass and copper, but they’re a small portion of the heater and won’t affect the price much.

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.
