Construction Asphalt Paving Services, Inc. is a locally owned company. We have been providing quality paving and asphalt services to the residents and businesses of Unicoi, Tennessee and the surrounding areas since 1959. This includes the Tri Cities, Greeneville, Bluff City, Jonesborough, Hampton, Roan Mountain, Butler and some parts of North Carolina, and Virginia. "I got a quote for putting in a new 650 ft chip and tar driveway and resurfacing a 100 ft asphalt driveway. There were several delays (reportedly due to weather). When a time slot became available, it was already into the cold season and I was told that chip and tar could not be done. We opted to install the gravel base for the new driveway and finish the job in the spring. The work on the gravel base layer was excellent; neat and professionally installed, for which I was billed and paid. However, that is far as we have gotten. It is now July and I cannot get CAPS out to complete the job. I have called repeatedly and have been given multiple reasons for the delay, and each time getting a promise to get back in touch with me regarding scheduling. Excuses have been a combination of: weather delays, major jobs taking precedence, liquid tar availability, estimator quitting, etc. These are all understandable, but I would think that in 5-6 months, you should be able to get through a 2-3 week backlog and get to my job. I even had some additional work that I wanted them to add to the project; I came close to getting someone out to look at the additional work (someone actually called to schedule a date/time for a site visit), but that also got delayed and never happened. I should mention that the person answering the phone was friendly and seemed sincere in my interactions with her. I really liked CAPs work and reasonable pricing, but getting a response from these folks is like watching rain erode a rock - it takes a little while. CAPs, if you are reading reviews, let customers know if you are not interested in doing their project; don't drag them on. You'll be one step ahead of the competition if you simply communicate with your customers."

Newer roofs, sloped roofs, and those that have more support can hold more snow than older roofs, flat roofs, and roofs with widely spaced beams. To figure out how much snow your roof can hold, you will need to contact a professional roofing contractor to calculate the maximum snow load for your specific roof.

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

You can clean snow off your roof after a fresh snowfall while it’s still lightweight, but brushing off snow can also dislodge your clips. If you get a lot of snow, then roof clips become less viable.

In most municipalities, snow removal is compulsory in public spaces, including the sidewalk in front of your house, so you need to remove snow there. You could face fines for failure to clear your sidewalk in a timely manner—usually within 24 hours of the snowfall stopping. More importantly, your sidewalk needs to be safe for pedestrians to use, and you could face legal issues if someone slips on your sidewalk because you failed to clear it. Sidewalk removal services might seem expensive, but they’re well worth it to avoid these issues.
