"The company goes by Carolina Gator Fence now. I had a gate installed in January. I've been trying since then to get repairs made on it. The last contact I had with someone there, I was told they had lost money on the job and if they would have known I lived where I lived they would not have done the job. Since then, I have emailed four people at the business and called the business. No response. It is now 4/27/2018. They came without all of the necessary parts to complete the job. The gate is not level with the fence. I have had to put scrap fencing, 4 x 4's and an 8 x 8 across the bottom of the gate to keep my pets in the yard and to keep other animals out of the yard."

"My initial contact with Leelands was 10 years ago. I really admired the work they had done on my neighbors house. I just couldn't afford slate repair or replacement at the time. The employees were always courteous and patient. Fast forward to May 2018, I had exhausted all the patching my roof could take. I contacted Leelands, Donna promptly scheduled Luke to come out for an estimate. Luke was on time and provided honest feedback. I recieved a Photo Report, Field Condition Report and Proposals a few weeks later. It took me a few more months to decide how to proceed. In October, Leelands sent Gabriel and Miguel to make the repairs. They were prompt, courteous and worked diligently to finish the job. After a rainy 2018, my roof is still leak free."

Installing a fence when the ground is frozen presents challenges, but it's possible with the right approach. First, mark and measure the fence line accurately. Use a power auger or manual post-hole digger to create holes in the frozen ground, ideally when it's less rigid during warmer parts of the day. Consider using pre-made fence post anchors or driving metal posts into the ground. Ensure posts are secure with concrete for stability. Allow extra time for the concrete to cure. Additionally, be cautious of frost heave, which may affect post-alignment. Installing in milder winter conditions is often more manageable.

Proper installation can make a big difference in your fence's maintenance needs. For example, wood fences that aren't installed correctly can be more likely to rot. While it's possible to DIY a fence installation, hiring a local fence company can mean much less work for you in the long run. 

A professional fence installer will make sure your fence is positioned correctly and installed in a way that ensures longevity and limited upkeep requirements.

Your dog might be able to slip underneath chewable, flexible fabric gate covers. When you have a wayward woofer, using wooden panels that come within an inch or two of the ground is the most secure option. Metal fences can last over 30 years if maintained correctly. Strong weather, abuse from animals or people, and lower-quality material will all shorten the lifespan of a metal fence. Galvanized metal will last longer because it has a protective barrier. Sheet metal and corrugated metal tend to rust faster than solid pieces like those you see in a split rail fence.

Pickets should sit at least 2 inches off the ground to encourage groundwater to flow underneath. Pickets can sit as much as 6 inches off the ground, but setting it any higher could let pets in or out of your yard unintentionally. These are not to be confused with the fence posts anchored underground with soil or concrete footing.
