"I cannot say enough about Steven Batty Contracting, my son in Clayton, NC hired them to do his garage and back half of his home and was completely satisfied so he recommended Steven Batty Contracting to do my roof as well. In our discussion with Steven, prior to them coming onsite, he indicated that the entire job would be completed within one day, not like my neighbor’s house where it took them two full days and cleanup on the third. They arrived at approximately 7:15 AM and took particularly diligent care to remove furniture from our porch, cover our gazebo and Hot Tub, and proceeded to strip off our 14-year-old original roofing, tarpaper, and old vents. This was accomplished within the first three hours. Next, they laid the new tar paper, water shield, new Solar Attic Fans, and all new drip edge. While they were finishing laying all the new very high-quality 25-Year roofing shingles part of their team was back on the ground cleaning up all the debris, magnetically getting all the old nails out of the yard. By 2:00 PM they were 100% finished, put all our furniture back on our porch and were on their way. Mr. Batty was constantly checking on his crew and by 3:30 PM that very same day he took the final pictures using his drone plus walking on the roof and from the yard. I paid him for his final installment, and he was on his way with a very satisfied customer, my wife and I (plus our son) highly recommend Steven Batty Construction."

The quality of the staining itself was variable - there were areas where they did a great job, and others that were missed, overlooked, or intentionally ignored. The eaves were among the intentionally ignored, and I was told "that's defined as part of the roof structure, which isn't included." Excuse me, but the contract says "clean and stain exterior of screen porch" - it does not say "screen porch walls only." Another ignored area was the top edge of the fascia and floorboards, which they stained above, and below, leaving a gap. And there were several other spots that were overlooked even after a visit to complete punch list items. I asked multiple times to talk to the owner but he never called me back. Next time I'll just hire a real house painter."
