Outswing doors are more popular for exterior doors as they offer more room for moving items in and out of a home. Comparing inswing vs. outswing doors depends on your budget, needs, and overall preference.

While spring and summer’s temperate weather can make the project more pleasant and give you more daytime hours to start and complete it, there’s otherwise no advantage to framing a door in spring or summer versus fall and winter.

If you’re installing a pocket door into an existing door opening, the new space will need to be twice the width of the existing door, plus an inch. You'll need to double that number if you’re adding dual pocket doors.
