"My certified inspector MatthewCote out of the Belgrade, MT office found i have a natural spring comming up in my crawlspace. I knew I had water streaming all over crawlspace and my husband believed it was due to watering lawn of the hill our house sits on. Matt was great to work with, he was totally professional. He explained my situation and showed me in photos and map of my basement what this ssprincause, how it had eroded and damage caused. It has been going on for quite a few years, of which I noticed escalation of water even though I decreased watering on above lawn. I wish I had researched this sooner. "The guys did an excellent job in my opinion. They had to do some excavating to get down to the pipe. The complete pipe was replaced, not patched in. The septic tanked was pumped out, inspected, and an access cover was installed above the ground for future cleaning. The guy did everything to the tee that he told me he was going to do before he started. He completed the job in one day like he said he would, and he put back all the landscaping back exactly how it was to begin with. I would have Western Septic come back in a heartbeat and do any repairs that I have in the future. Super nice guy, friendly, and was very reasonably priced for all the work he performed for me. 100% satisfied, that's for sure."

"Came out to fix under my sink. Replaced two fittings in less than ten minutes, didn’t check anything else. Sink is still leaking. Charged me $211 and kept telling me the whole time my house needs replumbed and it would be thousands. When I told him I wasn’t interested in doing that right now, he didn’t take anything else I said seriously. Everything from there is, “well if I have to do this I’m charging this much more.” Horrible service. I feel like I’ve been scammed out of $200. As a single income parent, that’s food for a month. Problem isn’t even resolved."

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.

It can take a while for the pipes to unfreeze, and they won’t without help if temperatures stay below freezing. If you live where it’s frequently below freezing, consider whether pipe insulation is worth installing.

You should also consider calling a pro if you need to snake a toilet, as DIYing this could lead to a cracked fixture.

Depending on the issue, you have a good shot at fixing a leaking sink yourself. If you have some plumbing experience or are comfortable with DIY jobs, you can clean the P trap, tighten nuts, replace washers, and replace shut-off valve stems on your own. For more complicated jobs, such as repairing a garbage disposal, calling a pro may be the way to go.
