"Mike Hagen (and all of his crew) are hands down the BEST contractors to work with. Mike is such a down to earth guy, and was so accommodating to build our house the way we wanted it! Even after the house was finished, he has been so responsive in coming to help us figure out the quirks of it all. I HIGHLY recommend him! The next home we build will definitely be a Hagen Construction house!"

"Had 3 Brothers install the plumbing for an apartment unit at my home. Disappointing customer service and complete inability to adhere to self imposed deadlines. Was given an estimate of my job only taking 3-5 days, when in fact it took 3 months. Plumbers would only work for a day and then disappear without notice, and would only come back for another days work after calling and asking where they were. The plumbing work was done decently enough, though the plumber left huge messes all throughout the project. They also used several of my tools without asking and didn't return them to where they found them. I was also charge an additional $375 because I asked for a Tee to be installed instead of a 90, which seemed a bit egregious. When I received the invoiced I raised my concerns with the owner and asked for some consideration as my project was pushed out several months causing me to incur many additional, unplanned expenses. My complaints were met with a half-hearted "sorry you feel that way" and a demand of payment letter, along with multiple threats of litigation if I did not pay in full. Owner refused to meet in person or discuss over the phone and just repeated the same threats every time I tried to speak to him about my concerns. Overall, very disappointed in the treatment I received and will not be using 3 brothers for future projects or recommending them to anyone else. In my opinion it would be better to use any number of their smaller, less expensive competitors as the turnaround time and quality is the same."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Ideally, you might find that you only need to clean the sewer line or remove a clog from the main line. That costs $200 to $300. However, “sewer main clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear, depending on what is causing the clog, distance from accessible cleanouts to the clog, and whether there is occupied space below the clogged line (apartment buildings, condos, etc.),” says Botelho.

A sewer cleanout typically looks like a white or gray PVC pipe with a removable cap. It's often located either in your yard or basement, depending on your home's plumbing configuration. The cleanout pipe is designed to provide easy access to your sewer system for maintenance and inspections. It may be flush with the ground or slightly elevated, making it distinguishable from other pipes. When you remove the cap, you can access the sewer line directly or determine its direction, which can be helpful when you need to locate your sewer line from your house to the street.

There are a few things that can happen to your sewer system if you don’t fix it. These include rainwater entering it and causing rust and corrosion, dirt and debris leading to blockages, small animals getting stuck inside and clogging your sewer line or entering your home, and shortening the sewer system’s life span.

Without a cap, nothing prevents toxic and non-toxic gasses like methane and hydrogen sulfide from slowly escaping your sewer system and entering your home and the surrounding atmosphere, resulting in a foul sewer odor throughout your house.

Snakes can occasionally enter homes through shower drains, although it’s quite rare. This can happen when they follow sewer pipes or accidentally find their way into plumbing systems. To minimize the risk, consider installing drain covers or stoppers on your shower drains. Always keep drains closed when they’re not in use, especially in areas where snakes are known to be active.

Anywhere from 18 inches to 8 feet deep. Your depth depends on soil and weather conditions in your area. If you live in a colder region, your lines are likely to be deeper than the lines of those living in warmer regions. Contact your local sanitation department or wastewater control board to get the plans for your system and find out for sure how deep your sewer lines are buried.
