It’s very uncommon for roaches to bite humans. Cockroaches don’t need humans for food and prefer to be elsewhere than on a living being. They have no poison or powerful pincers to cause any significant damage. However, in very bad infestations cockroaches have been known to search humans for dead skin cells, which leads to them nibbling around feet, hands, and eyelashes. They don’t cause any serious harm, but this is an easy way to spread the diseases cockroaches carry.

In addition to a dislike of strong smells, such as peppermint, citrus, cinnamon, lavender, and eucalyptus, there are some who believe spiders dislike music or other loud sounds. You can try cranking up your music, and the spiders supposedly don’t care for the vibration, which can help keep them out of your home. Continuous vibrations can throw off their senses and make them look for a food source elsewhere.

Even if you have extreme ophidiophobia (fear of snakes), don’t try to shoot or kill them with a shovel. Besides being pretty cruel, killing snakes in most states is illegal unless your life is at risk and many species are protected. 

Plus, you're putting yourself at greater risk using these techniques if it goes wrong and the now-angry snake is venomous.

Although weevils aren’t harmful to humans, it’s best to throw out flour (or any food product) if it contains weevils or other pests. However, if you want to salvage food after finding pests nearby in the pantry, you can freeze it for at least four days. To prevent weevils from returning, make sure to store your food in airtight containers or inside your refrigerator or freezer.
