"I found David to be warm, friendly and professional.  We made an appointment for the quote and he was punctual.  I did explain that I was in the process of a home refinance, but was in no hurry for the actual work.  Fall is coming soon and it might be best to wait until next spring to replace the windows.  We were very happy with his professionalism and his ideas on the siding and decking.  However,  the appointment was on July 27 and I still don't have even a ball park number (today is Aug 26th).  I did receive an email on Aug 14th saying he has bee real busy and that he would be back with me soon.  Since, we haven't heard back, and have not received a quote we have contracted with another company.

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Dillon, habits like piling snow or wet leaves against fences, using metal shovels near posts, and letting sprinklers soak the wood can speed up rot and warping. Neglecting to clear debris after windstorms or failing to reapply protective sealant each year also causes early deterioration. Allowing livestock direct contact with fencing without reinforcement often leads to sagging or broken sections over time.

Helpful?

During fencing projects in Dillon, survey markers and property corners are carefully verified to avoid boundary disputes. Soil type and frost line depth are assessed to ensure posts are set deep enough for freeze-thaw cycles. Slope, drainage patterns, and prevailing winds are reviewed to prevent shifting or leaning. Proximity to wells, septic systems, and livestock paths also influences fence placement and construction methods.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Dillon must balance durability with local climate challenges—wood offers a classic look but needs frequent sealing against moisture, while metal resists rot but can rust in harsh winters. Choosing taller fences improves privacy but increases wind resistance, requiring sturdier posts. Opting for DIY installation saves money, but remote locations can make repairs and sourcing materials more difficult, especially during winter months.

Helpful?

Homes in Dillon with steep slopes, rocky ground, or proximity to the Beaverhead River often require custom fence designs and extra drainage solutions. If your property has shared boundaries, historic fence lines, or easements, these can restrict placement. Check for buried propane lines, septic tanks, and overhead wires, as these features may require special planning and could limit where posts can be safely installed.

Helpful?

Fencing projects in Dillon often encounter extra expenses due to rocky soil that demands specialized digging equipment or manual rock removal. Uneven terrain may require additional grading and deeper posts for stability. Weather delays, permit requirements for certain fence heights, and the need for reinforced materials to withstand strong winds or wildlife are also common factors that can increase the overall project scope.
