"I can’t say enough good things about working with Peter Harris. We had a construction emergency and Peter took care of it skillfully and efficiently. Just after we went under contract to sell a family member’s condo, a water leak ruined the flooring and some cabinetry throughout the home. Immediately we struggled to work with the insurance company and find a contractor. Sourcing a reliable craftsman in Bozeman’s market seemed nearly impossible, and if we didn’t get the damage fixed quickly and competently, the water was likely to cause even more damage and we may have lost our buyer. Most gas stoves either have a shutoff valve inside the oven drawer compartment or behind the stove wall. Cooktop shutoff valves are usually inside the base cabinet, and wall ovens usually have a shutoff valve in the cabinet below or next to the unit. Construction regulations require installing a shutoff valve within six feet of the appliance. So, if you can’t find the valve on the appliance, look around the connecting gas pipes within the six-foot radius.

While it’s possible to use an outdoor faucet in the winter, it might not be the best time to water your grass. Drawing water to your outdoor faucet increases the risk of that water freezing when you’re done with the faucet, especially if you don’t take the time to re-winterize your faucet. There are heated hose products you can buy to use in winter, but these can cost hundreds of dollars. It may be best to simply wait for the weather to warm up again.

No, a bigger pressure tank has no effect on water pressure. To increase water pressure in your well water, gently adjust the tank’s pressure settings to a higher psi (pounds per square inch). If you’ve already done this, you can swap out your current pump for one with a higher flow rate, measured in gallons per minute (GPM). You can also call a pro to install a water pressure booster pump in your home plumbing system. If you experience fluctuations in water pressure, replace your current tank and pump with a constant pressure system.

You can use a water gauge to check that water pressure, which should be between 40 and 60 PSI. If you don’t have a water gauge, you can also time how long your showerhead takes to fill up a 1-liter container. If it takes longer than 6 seconds, you’re dealing with a case of low water pressure.

To test for toilet leaks, use water coloring in the water tank and see if the water slips into the bowl from the tank. This test will indicate if there’s a problem with the flapper or refill tube. You can also put water coloring in the bowl of the toilet to see if there is a leak there. If there is, you should see the colored water on the outside of the toilet bowl or on the floor.
