Our Mission at Handyman House Techs is to provide affordable home repair and remodeling services that exceed our customers expectations. We perform all types of home repairs, and we always provide free estimates. As a commitment to each community we serve and our customers, our business is registered, licensed, insured and bonded. Cost is determined by the job.

"The quality of their work is very good; however, they are much too expensive, since they hire contractors. Also, they don't accept personal checks, debit/credit cards. Considering how expensive they are, they have some nerve not to be more cooperative insofar as how their customers may pay for their services. I read one of the reviews in which the representative stated that they had been in business for ten years; however, they have not been in business for ten years in Mobile, but the Mississippi Gulf Coast instead."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

Federal and state grants for asbestos testing and removal do exist and can help homeowners with the associated costs. In some cases, local housing grants help homeowners who have to remove asbestos as part of home repairs. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also provides funding to help schools manage asbestos removal, but it doesn’t extend to homeowners.

Yes, professionals are trained to conduct safe renovations post-asbestos removal, ensuring comprehensive safety and compliance with regulatory standards. They provide reconstruction and restoration services to restore the integrity and appearance of affected areas.

No, but it’s common that they do. Gravity furnaces weren’t terribly efficient so wrapping either the ductwork in asbestos, the furnace itself, or both, was something done regularly. This allowed the system to retain more heat. At the time, this greatly enhanced the efficiency of the furnaces but it wasn’t until later that we became aware of just how carcinogenic and dangerous asbestos could be.

In the 1980s, the use of asbestos in house siding materials underwent a significant decline, ultimately being phased out by the mid-1980s to early 1990s. This change was largely due to a growing awareness of the severe health risks associated with asbestos exposure, particularly its link to lung diseases and cancers. With increased public concern and regulatory agency involvement, building codes and regulations were updated to restrict the use of asbestos in construction materials.

If you are trying to sell a home with asbestos siding, most jurisdictions force you to disclose this in official documentation about the home. Some potential buyers may not want to purchase a home with asbestos siding, which could negatively affect their health if the siding becomes disturbed. However, as long as the siding is in good condition, some buyers may not see it as a disadvantage. You could take on the cost to replace asbestos siding if you have concerns over this material affecting your home’s resale value.
