Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Pavers last longer than both concrete and asphalt when well cared for. Since you can place individual pavers that suffer damage, you won't need to repave the entire driveway for an average of up to 50 years. However, the best material for you comes down to your local climate and budget.

Unlike drying, which takes between 48 and 72 hours on average, asphalt driveway cure times are different and take much longer. Your asphalt driveway won’t actually cure for around six months to one year. During this time, it’s more likely to get damaged or weakened by heavy machinery, vehicles, and high temperatures. 

An asphalt overlay or top coat costs between $3 and $7 per square foot. For a standard, single-car driveway that’s 10 feet wide and 20 feet long, that’s a total of between $600 and $1,400. For a two-car driveway, you’re looking at a total of between $1,200 and $3,000.
