"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"I called United Roofing for a quote after the Hail storm we
had in March. To my surprise they came out the same day I call 3/25/13. I
really expected to have to wait at least a week after my adjuster came out on
3/30 to get my roof replaced, but United responded again surprisingly fast.
They were able to schedule my roof replacement on 4/2. Jack said that he was
using a new crew out of Texas due to the resent Hail damage and number of roof
replacements and repairs.  Even my
neighbors were surprised when they finished by 1:00. It took less than a day.
Jack was on site watching the ?new crew? most of the time. But they were
determined to do a good job and do it fast.
I have had several neighbors ask what roofing company I used
and I am glad to let them know. I could not be more pleased with the service I
received for the price.
New Crew or not this was very impressive. I have watched
several roofs go up over the neighborhood (they had different company signs in
the yard) and it takes two sometimes three days.  So after seeing that I really do appreciate the
reviews I read on United on Angie?s List for helping me pick a great roofer.
I would use them again if I ever need roof repairs.

"The people they sent out came out, they came out , I think about 4 or 5 different times. I talked with the technicians and said, "this is ridiculous, the furnace is old" and he said, "we agree, but they only want to do the patching". They would patch it and it would break, they would patch it, and it would break. Finally, I said, "I want a new furnace. What do we have to do to do a new furnace. You've been out here, this is like the 6th time," and he said, "I'll have my manager write something up", and so they did and they replaced the furnace. They tried. They were more interested in patching things than replacing things. They were willing to send out 4 or 5 different parts. The things that I see that would help the most is if it were easier to get a hold of them on the phone or if their website worked. Just being able to contact someone in person. Sometimes, you can't explain everything online. We were able to get a hold of them, we were able to talk to them. It just takes some time, they had to jump through the hoops with their company, we understood that, but they came through and got us a new furnace. A nice new furnace too."

Storm Shelters questions, answered by experts

Adding a storm shelter can increase the value of a home if you live in an area prone to intense storms. According to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, safe rooms can increase the home's sale price by 3.5%. That’s about $10,500 on a $300,000 home, which could be a 100% ROI or more if you build a storm shelter that’s on the smaller side.

Building a treehouse can vary in difficulty depending on factors such as design complexity, size, and the builder’s woodworking experience. Basic treehouses with simple designs can be manageable for DIYers with some carpentry skills, while more elaborate structures may pose challenges. Adequate planning, research, and careful execution can make the process more manageable, and resources like premade plans or professional assistance are always available for additional support.

Pole barns and carports are similar in that they rely on posts for support and are often not connected to a primary structure. The main difference between the two is that pole barns usually include walls that surround the entire perimeter of the structure, while carports generally remain open on three or four sides. It’s possible to insulate garage doors and even exterior walls on pole barns to create a comfortable workspace, and it’s a bit more secure for storage purposes. However, carports are more affordable.

Any straightforward rectangular home layout is more uncomplicated than custom rooms, additions, or stylistic features. In stock plans, single-story ranch homes, cape cods, and colonials are common. Layouts with a single roof ridge are easier to build than those with multiple dormers, chimneys, or ridges.

How long it takes to build a log cabin depends on a variety of factors, including its size and design, and whether or not you have to clear the land. Construction can take a few weeks for a prefab log cabin on an established site, but up to eight or nine months for a custom cabin on undeveloped land. In comparison, the timeline to build a house is typically four to 12 months.
